Chronic WU problem on Win7 Ult x64

Windows 7 ultimate 64bit install. Original SSD had buggy V1 firmware, known to cause corruption. Post install, had failed windows updates from the start. It has got worse over 4 years and I now have a heap of corrupt files and maybe 11 out of 12 updates fail. After several tries at SUR did not fix it, I resorted to an Update Install a few days ago. Took an age but failed at the last hurdle with something like "The upgrade cannot continue on this installation". So I either have to fix WU or face a clean install and loss of four years of installation maturity.

I ran SFCfix and got :

Download and install Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update from Official Microsoft Download Center

Step 2:
Start the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again.
On completion, attach the logfile C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log in your next reply.

Thanks for your time Peter. Looks like it has only fixed one deployment key. Updates are still hit and miss - some succeed, more fail. Those that do succeed seem to sometimes come round again and succeed a second or third time, which is odd.

• Download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:

• Right-click to run the tool as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
• Note: Ensure that the Addition.txt check box is checked at the bottom of the form within the Optional Scan area.
• Press the Scan button.
• Please wait for the tool to finish. It will produce two logfiles called FRST.txt and Addition.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should be the desktop)
• Post the logfiles FRST.txt and Addition.txt as attachment in your next reply.
