I've been getting errors during wondows backups saying some files were not backed up due to corrution. I tried to run chkdsk, and since this is my c drive, it says it is scheduled for the next reboot. Wehn I reboot, chkdsk never runs. I've seen this before on another machine, but I can't remember what you had me do to fix it.

thanks in advance,

sfc /scannow completes without any issues and no integrity violations found. Installing SURT now and will run it next.

SURT also reports no errors:

Hi Campbell - Chuck. :smile9:
I'd first re-try the CHKDSK command:
  • from an elevated command prompt (you didn't specify if you did this).
  • after a clean boot (click), always from an elevated command prompt.
  • in safe mode (although I'm not sure if it'll work), always from an elevated command prompt.
To run an elevated command prompt, click windows start (usually in the bottom-left corner), type cmd (in the searchbox), hold (press and keep pressed) both CTRL and SHIFT keys on your keyboard, then press enter on your keyboard (and now you can release all keys), click yes on the user account control (UAC) window that should appear (if UAC is enabled).

That didn't work, but the machine crashed and when it started this last time, chkdsk started.

I really hate intermittent, non-reproducible problems.
