My Dell desktop is an XPS8500. Windows 8.1. Have used very little because

of problems. The Dell Backup and Recovery will not respond to anything.

Yesterday finally got an update by use of forum posts. I understand the

application furnished with the computer is limited to win8 and must be

updated for 8.1 to work. Do not believe installation of the update will

have any bearing on my CbsPersist problem so will hold off on update until

I hear from the experts on this forum.
Options are missing from the PC Changes, such as General and it takes much

longer to boot. All of these things scared me and made me wonder what else

is wrong. When I finally tried SFC Scan, it said unable to correct

problems and the CbsPersist Logs were generated. I presently have 5 log

files.

Will appreciate any help or advise you can give me.

You're doing fine, no worries. Unfortunately the logs weren't current enough so I need you to do the following.

Step#1 - SFCFix
1. Download SFCFix.exe and save this to your Desktop.
2. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
3. Double click on SFCFix.exe to open it.
4. Follow all on screen instructions and upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop named SFCFix.txt.
5. Please post the contents of this log in your next post. Thank you.

Hi.

Did not get a file called SFCFix.txt. Here is what I did get:

SFCFix version 2.4.3.0 by niemiro.
Start time: 2015-04-11 14:24:24.458
Microsoft Windows 8.1 Update 3 - amd64
Not using a script file.

AutoAnalysis::

SFCFix version 2.4.3.0 by niemiro has completed.
Currently storing 0 datablocks.
Finish time: 2015-04-11 14:32:55.717

Is this OK?

The reason my log files did not appear to be current is they were but I have not used this pc lately.

Confused, have the SFCFix.exe but not the SFCFix.zip. First time I looked at this page, saw a .zip file at the end. Downloaded it and it changed the name to an .html file. Your instructions say not to change the name. What should I do? Think this is the same file I uploaded to dropbox, but doubt I could get it back. Tell me what to do.

At the bottom of my previous post you should see a zip file. You should be able to click on it and save it to your desktop.

So sorry, please forgive me

Thanks. When you originally came here you had stated the following.

When I finally tried SFC Scan, it said unable to correct

problems and the CbsPersist Logs were generated

Is this still the case? I believe it finishes with no errors now correct?
