Hi, I'v been having a problem with my computer randomly BSODing every 2-3 days and I'v figured out part of the problem but I still need a lot of help. I was looking at an old post showing the steps and everything but realized that the scripted they used to fix it, was to fix his exact problems. So I was completely helpless and figured I would post hoping to get a hand with this issue.

So I'v used scannow and it has shown me that I have some corrupt CBS errors that can't be fixed.

I used these steps to get my CBS.log

Export CBS.log

  1. Click the Start button
    StartButton_16x16.gif
    then click Computer
  2. Double click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder
  3. Find and double click on the Logs folder, and then inside that folder, the CBS folder
  4. Right-click on the CBS.log file, and select Copy. It may show as just CBS (without the .log extension). Do not be concerned, and proceed to copy the file.
  5. Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a file on your Desktop called CBS(.log)
  6. Right-click on this file again, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder
  7. Another new file, also called CBS, but this time with a different icon, will be created. Please uplaod this new file to the forum, here

Here is the log. View attachment CBS.zip
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I'm a total novice when it comes to this.

Hello holypepsi, welcome to Sysnative!

My name is Tom and I'll be assisting you along with one of our trainees: Machiavelli. Please don't be worried about being helped by a trainee though, firstly he's very good and secondly I'll be reviewing all of his scripts before he posts them! There might be a slight delay between our posts as there's time zone differences between us, but we'll do our best to get you up and running as soon as possible!

I've let Machiavelli know and we'll get back to you with a fix! In the mean time, if you could upload the rest of your logs to us that would be great:

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. [sfcfixdownload]Download SFCFix[/sfcfixdownload] (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the attached file, SFCFix.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.txt - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT)

  1. Download the System Update Readiness Tool from Microsoft --> here <-- Please save the tool to a convenient location as it may be necessary to run it again.
  2. After the download has completed, double-click the file and wait while it initializes.
  3. Click Yes to begin installation. Please note it may take some time to complete and may appear to stall whilst installing. Don't worry, this is perfectly normal behaviour. Also note, whilst I say "installing", it's actually running the tool and can therefore be "installed" (run) repeatedly.

Once*SURT*has completed installing, please zip up and attach the following log to your next post:

C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Alright here it is. My computer BSOD again, and forced me to use system restore or something like that. I don't know if I need to send you previous files again.
