Hello I am having major problems installing Windows Defender on Server 2016.
It looks like the problem is caused by Missing Files for KB4593226.
The update is not published by Microsoft in the Update Catalog so it seems i am stuck.
Can someone help me to workaround this problem.

I have tried DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and SFC /scannow - no luck getting past the problem
i have attached the CBS.log file

Any help would be appreciated

Hi and welcome to Synative,

Follow these instructions to remove an update.
  • Open the Start menu of Windows and type the command CMD
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, then press enter.
Code:
wusa /uninstall /KB:4593226
  • Let me know if it says it was successful or you get the message: The update KB4593226 is not installed on this computer.

The message is "The update KB4593226 is not installed on this computer."

Great, please attempt to install Windows Defender and if it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log(s).

Windows Updates are working correctly. I was even able to install Windows Defender.
Thanks a lot for the assistance.
You are genius :-)

That was my mistake, in the habit I wrote "try to attempt to update" instead of "try to install the WD Role"...
But you're welcome and glad to hear the problem has been resolved. I'll mark this thread as solved! (y)
