First of all thanks for the efforts of all the helpers here in the forum who are helping people like me.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 bits

I reserved Windows 10 Upgrade when it was offered by Microsoft. Today Aug 19 2015 I got notification to upgrade to Windows 10. It started downloading Windows 10 and when prompted I tried to update. It started like Getting setup files/preparing for installation/checking requirements and then it said

Windows 10 could not be installed
Failed: 1 update
Error(s) found:

Code 80070005 Windows Update encountered and unknown error.

I ran SFCFix file version 2.4.5.0 by niemiro, it gave the following result

SFCFix version 2.4.5.0 by niemiro.
Start time: 2015-08-19 23:02:01.045
Microsoft Windows 7 Service Pack 1 - amd64
Not using a script file.

I followed all the steps mentioned under error code 0x80070005 in the thread

https://www.sysnative.com/forums/wi...ation-windows-update-validation-problems.html

and got the CBS log report, which is attached here as a zip file.

I don't have too much knowledge about computers, any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

I downloaded the Media creation tool 64 bit, saved it on desktop, but when tried to run it as administrator it didn't even run.

There is no folder named Panther under C:\$Windows.~bt\Sources\ as media creation tool didn't run.

Looks like the SURT repaired the problems it found.

Reboot, then try running the Windows 10 upgrade with the Media Creation Tool again.

Rebooted and tried with media creation tool.............application didn't even run

Tried with windows update.....same result as posted earlier

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Note: If the file is too large to attach, please right-click cbs.txt, point to Send to, and then click Compressed (zipped) folder and upload the cbs.zip file instead.

Don't use windows update to upgrade to windows 10. Google the media creation tool for windows 10 and download it, run it, and then choose "upgrade now."

I tried to run Media Creation Tool "as administrator" so many times, but that application doesn't even open.

You probably cant upgrade from the ultimate version since there is no ultimate version of windows 10 :(

So install pro version of 7 or 8 or 8.1

Looks like there are more corrupt files. I'd like to make sure the filesystem is consistent before continuing.

chkdsk /f
