I think its something wrong with windows 10 system files, but none of the reset/repair/install windows options are working and everything fails. (Tried to reset, restore, reinstall and all failed)

Have run troubleshooter for Hardware and Devices, but it says all issues resolved but still cant get my graphics card to be recognized or update driver, repair anything. I know its not the graphics card because I switched it out for another one and had the same issue. And I cant update drivers for anything, not just the graphics card.

sfc /scannow says Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth says Invalid access to memory location.

DISM and CBS log files attached.

SFCFix said no corrupted files, but Stage 1 scan failed and it says unable to upload.

I think its related to missing or corrupt wcp.dll and/or CbsCore.dll as it meets all criteria in this post: Errors 0x800703e6 (998) in DISM and Windows Update

But when I try to follow the fix it in that post says Access denied when I try to move the old files in cmd. Didnt try to copy the newly downloaded ones over since I couldnt move the old ones.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!

Unfortunately not an option, the only available restore point is after this issue started.

  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth
