Good Evening all,

Thanks first of all for taking the time to read this post, I do truly appreciate it, here is my issue:

I have my uncles computer which I am trying to recover since he had issues with windows updates (truth be told I think he shutdown during the update process)

I am unable to 'Repair computer' as it keeps failing due to winload.exe being corrupt ( the file IS physically there and there are no alternatives there i.e. winload~1.exe)

Upon searching for solutions to this I found someone stating to try an sfc /scannow which I tried but got told there are issues which it cannot fix, please see below the log (compressed as requested)

The bottom line I suppose is I would like to wipe the machine back to factory settings however in order todo this I need to be able to boot the recovery discs which it won't do, due to the above issue

Many thanks in advance for your help

Alex

What make/model s the system?

There should be no problem booting from the Recovery disc unless it is bad or there is a hardware issue (failure). Where did you get the recovery discs from?

Have you tried Recovery using the HDD Recovery partition?

Regards. . .

Good Morning and thanks for your reply, its a Dell Inspiron 1545 - I created the boot discs from within windows itself

I am unable to use the recovery partition as the steps involve 'Repair your computer' however I get the winload.exe error when I try to access it

Thanks in advance

Alex

Ctrl + F11 is for windows XP, this is windows 7, didn't come with any recovery discs unfotunately, the instructions mentioned using local datasafe backup which is how i created the backup cd.

When I reboot and run the CD I get 'Windows is loading files' with the loading bar, when it gets to the end I get the error regarding winload.exe, driving me insane to say the least ;)
