Hello,

Hoping someone can please help!

Main error coming up is pretty generic 0x8000FFFF.
Office Updates installing ok
Have run sfc /scannow which found no issues
Ran SFCFix.exe - have attached output

Ran SURT and it mentions a bcrypt CSI Manifest Missing. Trying to correct the issue with the missing manifest by following instructions in these articles but doesn’t seem to change the output of the SURT.

Hello Cindyjv welcome to Sysnative,

It seems there is also some registry corruption! lets see if I can locate it... please collect the following files:

Retrieve the Components Hive
  1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file
  2. Please copy the COMPONENTS file to your desktop
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again
  3. Right-click on this file on your Desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your Desktop
  4. If file will is too large to upload to the forum please share the file using a service like Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or upload to www.sendspace.com and just provide the link for the file here

Export Registry Hive (CBS)
  • download the script ExportCBSRegistry2.cmd and save it to the Desktop
  • right-click the file ExportCBSRegistry2.cmd and select Run as administrator
  • when the script ends a new file called SoftwareCBS.zip will be located on the Desktop
  • If the zip file is too large to upload to the forum please share the file using a service like Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or upload to www.sendspace.com and just provide the link for the file here

Export Registry keys (SBS)
  • download the script ExportSbSRegistry.cmd and save it to the Desktop
  • right-click the file ExportSbSRegistry.cmd and select Run as administrator
  • when the script ends a new file called SoftwareSBS.zip will be located on the Desktop
  • If zip file is too large to upload to the forum please share the file using a service like Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. or upload to SendSpace and just provide the link for the file here

Thanks again! The CheckSUR log is looking clean now! But I was still unable to get the May Security and Quality Rollup for .NET (KB4499406) to install. Error has changed to 0x8024000B in Software Centre
I have been able to install Security only updates for .NET for May like KB4495612 and KB4495593 though

Hi,

Please stay with the initial machine only, you can start a new topic later for the other one.

From the list of installed programs tell me which versions of .Net framework are installed.

Hello and thanks again!
I was able to install that KB the other day but have just re-installed it anyway
It seems the relevant .NET security updates install, just not the rollup.

So these are installed:
KB4344177
KB4470637
KB4019990
KB4495593 4.5.2
KB4495596 4.5.2
KB4495612 3.5.1

Please find contents of CBS folder

Hi,

Actually KB4499406 "doesn't exist" its a group of different updates that installs depending on the version of .Net Framework installed on the system:

I found some corruption on the registry! any recent problems with memory or disk on this server?

Farbar Recovery Scan Fix

!!! WARNING !!! The following fix is only relevant for this system and no other, running the script on another computer will not work and may cause problems...

  • Download FRST or FRST x64 and save it to the Desktop.
(Please pick the version that matches your operating system's bit type. If you don't know which version matches your system, try FRST if it say that is not compatible with your OS you have to use FRST64)
  • Download the file attached and save it to the Desktop as fixlist.txt
(It's important that both files, FRST or FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work!)
  • Execute FRST/FRST64 right click on the icon
    FRST.gif
and choose Run as Administrator. Make sure all other windows are closed.
    FRST_Fix.png
  • Press the Fix button just once and Wait. After the fix the system needs to restart if the tool does not request it please Restart the computer.
  • The tool will make a log (Fixlog.txt) on the same location as FRST/FRST64 please post it in your next reply.

Wow that worked and I have been able to install the .NET rollup! Thank you!!

I found some corruption on the registry! any recent problems with memory or disk on this server?
Not that I know of. This server loads a golden image vdisk and I control the updates/installs on here (for users it becomes read-only) so I'm not sure how corruption has happened. I haven't see any other symptoms of memory or disk issues. So hopefully I won't have further problems

Thank you so much for all your help!

Hi,

Thanks for the update. It was a pleasure working with you.

I will mark this thread as Solved.
