Yeah, I've done some research and tried to talk to Microsoft about it, and they haven't been able to help. ASUS also doesn't seem to care that their copy of Windows 7 is screwed up. Anyone got any ideas on how to get rid of this error?

Is this a Windows Update fail or did you also try to install the standalone version?

It's both. I've tried it through Windows Update and manually with the download from the Microsoft website.
