Can't get on the internet on my laptop, can on my tablet as this is where I am typing

from. The other day I ended up not being able to connect to the internet on my laptop. I am writing this from my tablet. I am using an Acer Laptop E5-511P. It is running Windows 8.1 64-bit. 8gb ram 500 gb hard drive. I use Mcafee Antivirus which came with the system. Have had no problems with it. And Iobit Malware Remover 4.0. Anyway as of the 12 of Jan I have not been able to connect to the internet on my laptop. I was at Bleeping Computers.com and got no solution, other than this website. I think it has to do with either as some might have thought DNS or Host files. I can't download on the system either, because I can't get on the internet. If you need clarification first please ask. thank you

Could you provide the link to your bleepingcomputer thread (to see what they have tried with you)?
Did you just try to restart the laptop? (I think this is yes, but sometimes it isn't so obvious...)
Does your tablet get the same internet connection as your laptop? (as above)
IObit Malware Fighter 4 free or PRO?
Are you using Mcafee Antivirus or Mcafee internet security (or total protection)?
If the latter, are you using Mcafee firewall or windows firewall?
Did you try to disable the firewall (just the time to check if internet works, 5 minutes...)?
Are you using the wireless signal or are you using an ethernet cable (from your pc to your modem router)?
If the latter, did you check if the ethernet cable is still correctly plugged in the ethernet ports (PC/router)?
Did you modify the HOSTS file?
Are you using proxy, vpn, peerguardian, peerblock, ipfilters or any other exotic applications?

tried to restart the computer many of times, even after doing a command or task to correct problem and it asks that you restart computer.
yes my tablet and other tablets along with a desktop computer all run now and off the same router.
I am using Mcafee Total protection just renewed for a second year and had no problems in the first year with them.
Iobit Malware free 4.3 and if i wanted to get the pro have no internet access on my laptop right now.
was using Mcafee firewall but since i just got the renewal it isn't loading, Mcafee seems like it isn't woking because it can't connect to the internet. And I just checked Windows Firewall it isn't working either and I was using Mcafee firewall.
Wireless on every machine mentioned above.don't really have access to the ethernet cable really, if that sounds weird.
Yes router is all good and everything is connected.
Didn't modify the Hosts file, should I, wondered of that might be a problem.
Using no other exotic ware, I am just at home for thsi problem, I might use a VPN when I am out with my laptop or tablet.
