I cannot create a System Image, a backup or a Restore Point.

I get the following message:

"A volume Shadow Copy Service operation failed." "Please check "VSS" and "SPP" application event logs for more information." (0x807800A1)
"Additional information"
"A volume Shadow Copy Service component encountered an unexpected error." "Check the Application event log for more information. (0x80042302)

Hello Go the Power,

I haven't heard from you on this issue in awhile. Do you need more information or did I not give you what you needed. Would like to hear from you and resolve this issue. Thanks for your help.

I would really like to see the event logs from either VEW or MiniToolbox. Can you get either of them to run a produce a log?

Please go Here and download MiniToolBox and save this file to your desktop.

Go to your desktop and launch MiniToolBox.exe - > Select the following options:
  • List last 10 results

Press Go

Once finished a notepad file called Result.txt will open. Please post the contents back into this thread.

Or

Event Log Viewer

  1. Please download VEW.exe from Here and save it to your desktop.
  2. Go to your desktop and right click on VEW.exe and choose Run as Administrator
  3. Once open set the following settings
    • 'Select log to query'
      1. Tick Application
      2. Tick System
    • 'Select Type to list'
      1. Tick Critical
      2. Tick Error
      3. Tick Information
      4. Tick Warning
    • 'Number or date events'
      1. Tick Number of Events and set it to 20
  4. Click on Run
  5. Once completed a notepad file will open. Please copy and paste the contents of VEW.txt back into this thread.

But if they both dont work can you please give me the exact reason why they dont work.

Hello Go The Power
Out of curiosity or boredom I tried to Create a System back up and a Restore Point today and they both worked. I don't know what you did but what ever it was it worked. Is there anything else you need me to do other than give you my profound thanks and a donation is on the way
