So I have several issues, I have no idea if any of them are linked with each other and I have tried to fix them little success. Any time I download a windows update it says update was not installed. I followed a guide by Microsoft and ran the command sfc /scannow, which didn't do much. I then downloaded the System update readiness tool. "Windows Update error 0x80070490 is the error it gives . First time I ran it had a service registration missing or corrupt as well but not anymore.

I continued to follow a guide that said to use the command " Ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.bak " , I got an error " Access is denied ". (I am the only use and administrator). I also looked at the event id checker and seem to have a few error 31.

Also my trouble shooter doesn't work (doesn't bother me too much but I don't know if this is part of the problem), it gives me the error code 0x80070005,and I have enabled BITS, Cryptographic services and windows update.

I tried to disable my antivirus eset nod32 by uninstalling it but that led me to a bluescreen of death on boot for some reason. I was able to do a system restore and then download a special eset uninstaller which fixed this. I then got avast and did a bit of cleanup.
I was then told to come to this site after updates still failed and ran sfc /scannow , but instead of finishing at 49% and then finishing it went to 100% which I assume is good.

I will greatly appreciate any help give, - Thanks

So I attempted to update using windows update, but only 28 updates succeeded while 103 failed, and I got 3 error codes : 8000FFFF, 80070005, 80070490. I restarted and attempted to update again in which only 5 updates succeeded and the same errors. I ran "sfc /scannow" command and attempting to update windows again now.
