My first post after exhausting all attempts to resolve my windows update error. After looking at the log file I assumed Avast was causing the problem. I uninstalled Avast and also ran CCleaner to remove any left over entries. The problem still persisted. I hope the attached files are the correct ones that are required :noidea:. Help to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. :thumbsup2: The CBS file was 10.5MB after zipping and couldn't upload.

Update to say I now have got my problem solved . After reading the SFCFix text file, I noticed that two dll files were reported as being corrupt, namely, slwga and systemcpl. Whenever I checked the paths, I discovered the files had 0kb and were created years ahead. I checked the same files on a known working computer running similar win 7 OS and had the same file version. After taking ownership of the corrupt files, I renamed them old and copied the working files into the same folders. Just to clarify, my 'system' icon in control panel was not working, hence the corrupt systemcpl dll. Now I'm glad to report that both Windows updates and System icon are working as should be. I ran SFC again and no corrupt files were found. Hope this can help others that may find themselves in a similar dilemma.
