Hi Masterchiefxx17
A bit of deja vu to see me here (yes, I'm the same OldGrayGary from TSF) ...
I'm not on the Windows Update team here (they have special training) ... but I noticed that they've been really busy. So, while you wait for a member of the team to visit your thread, here's a few things to try for a quick solution.
If you are still using Windows Defender (or Windows Security Essentials), double-check that the Windows Firewall is on. This error used to show up in Windows 8.1, too ... and I've seen some Windows 10 users solve their error by turning the Windows Firewall on.
It might be that Microsoft happened to be "patching the patch" on Patch Tuesday ... I had two or three computers for repair - all of which received the Cumulative Rollup on Tuesday ... had to use System Restore to get them running again. [So, you might be lucky that it didn't install!] ....
By Tuesday evening, I retried the same updates again ... and on each computer, they then ran successfully. My guess is that Microsoft may have found an easily patchable bug in the update, and quietly fixed it.
So, try again - it might work regardless of your firewall... if it doesn't work, and you have a different firewall, you might try temporarily turning off your other firewall, turning on Windows firewall, and run the updates... After they've installed, you can turn Windows Firewall back off, and your other firewall back on.
.... just a few quick-fix thoughts.
Hello to the Windows Update team ... you folks are amazing: keep up the good work
