Hi,
From mid-August 2018, searching/installation of Windows updates has been very slow (ie. hours), and I have been unable to install the following 2 windows updates:
1. 2018-xx Security Monthly Quarterly Rollup for Windows 7 x64-based Systems
2. 2018-xx Preview of Monthly Quarterly Rollup for Windows 7 x64-based Systems
The error code reported by Windows is 80070057. The CheckSUR.log file currently reports the following 3 errors:
Checking Component Watchlist
(f) CBS Watchlist Component Missing 0x80070002 amd64_microsoft-windows-c..ityclient.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_0.0.0.0_ru-ru_2dd8ffcff1616246 Package_50_for_KB3011780~31bf3856ad364m35~amd64~~6.1.1.5 Package registry presence failed, possibly an orphaned package on package watchlist
Checking Packages
(f) CBS Registry Error 0x80070002 Package_588_for_KB4093118~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.4 failed to get CurrentState
(f) CBS Registry Error 0x80070002 Package_588_for_KB4093118~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.4 failed to get Visibility
The 'Watchlist Component Missing' error has been reported in the CheckSURpersist.log file since end August 2018, while the 'Registry Error' errors have only appeared in the last few days (possibly the result of re-installing KB3011780).
I have tried the following to fix the 'Watchlist Component Missing' error:
1. Running Windows Update TroubleShooter
2. Installing Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3102810)
3. Installing System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821)
4. Installing Servicing Stack Update for Windows 7 SP1 October 9, 2018 (KB3177467)
5. Unsuccessfully attempted to rename software distribution backup folders (SoftwareDistribution and catroot2)
6. Uninstalling and re-installing Security Update for Windows 7 x64-based Systems (KB3011780)
7. Running SFCFix
As the 2 'Registry Error' issues have only just appeared, and to avoid making the problem worse, I haven't yet tried any actions to clear these yet.
I've attached the CBS.zip and SFCFix.log file as a link to OneDrive (the total size of the CBS log is over 5GB zipped): https://1drv.ms/f/s!AiddwvdTlhTdgTH6JfYcH3cqNwLP
I can't think of anything else to run or try. Any help to fix the problem and avoid a complete re-build of the system is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.
