Hi, I have a server estate of over 300 servers and all but 3 of them have taken the latest KB5029250 August Patch

The 3 in question fail for spurios reasons,

I have tied both windows update and dism to install them but i am getting nowhere, I have tried to figure out based on othersp osts what it is you guys are looking for when diagsnosing a system.

I have tried Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:goodwindowsinstallationfolder but it still bugs out.

hoping you can shed some light on this, TIA for any help offered

as per Windows Update Forum Posting Instructions i have

Step #1 - Run SFC Scan
Step #2 - Run DISM
Step #3 - Run ComponentsScanner
Step #4 - Export CBS Folder

Results from Component Scanner attached along with CBS Logs.

on this particular machine i get error 0x80070005

Hi

Thank you for your reply, I ended up doing an inline repair on it.

Can i just ask, the process you are following (i have a number of these with varying different results in components.txt)

find inconsistences using the components tool and then resolving those inconsistencies by either copying a missing manifest folder to the winsxs folder or adding a missing reg key? (basically ensuring that everything in the components store has a reg key and manifests folder)?

Many Thanks

Hi,

That's hard to explain in one single post, the process of fixing is something that depends mainly on the error message. So there is no standard manual for troubleshooting Windows Update issues.

So I would suggest to start a new thread those systems to look at.
