Had Mozilla Firefox installed previously. Uninstalled and reinstalled but sites breaking up, slow response. I completely uninstalled Firefox so installed Chrome. Seems to be working okay but really like Firefox for privacy reasons. Ran System File Checker to see if there were any corrupt files to pinpoint any problem.

Hi!

I would recommend that you upgrade to the latest version of Windows 10 as Win7 is no longer supported:

  1. Download the Media Creation Tool and save this to your desktop. Go ahead and run this as well. Note: Click the Download tool now button when you get to this link.
  2. Accept the License Agreement
  3. Download the ISO file to your desktop.
  4. Double-click on the ISO and then run the setup to try and upgrade your machine.

We want to get the ISO so that you don't have to keep downloading which can take hours.

@softwaremaniac,

Thanks for your input and advice. I do understand that Win 7 is not supported. However I do have Windows 10 installed alongside Windows 7. With that being said, I would really like some assistance in removing the 2 corrupt Mozilla files that SFC pointed out, if possible.

Would a re-installation of Mozilla Firefox mitigate and be an aid in repairing the corrupted Mozilla files SFC found?? I would certainly appreciate any thoughts or assistance with the corrupted files.

Thanks

Hi!

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Hi ! I initially posted this problem in Bleeping Computer Forum. When I got no response a member suggested Sysnative and so I posted here. I have since received a response from Bleeping Computer and am currently in the process of following their directions. If my issue cannot be resolved in that forum, I will certainly return here for any and all guidance. I think it would be imprudent of me to do otherwise.

Thank you for getting back to me, it is appreciated.

Yes, I received assistance from @SleepyDude and issues resolved. My apologies for not returning to this thread and letting you know it can be closed.

Thanks
