Here's a perplexing one for anybody. The wife has an HP G60-445DX laptop and I can't get the built in microphone to work. I can't even find the physical location of the microphone on the laptop and HP documentation clearly says it has one. Windows sees the microphone and it's set as the default device and has the green check mark on it. But for what ever reason it just wont pick up any reception of a voice.

I've went through and cleaned the laptop from malware/spyware and Virus's....none found. I've updated all the drivers to include the chipset. Still no mic input what so ever. When doing a recording as suggested from HP site using the built in windows recorder and then playing it back....nothing....just 5 seconds of silence.

I have no idea how long it's been like this...it's the wifes....I only get to touch it when she has really got it messed up or she can't figure something out....

Hey Dig..... I'm not sure and neither is the wife. It's no big deal, she does have a head set. Everything in the device manager seems kosher, no errors to report. Thanks for the link...I found that as well....

I'd call that a "work-around" rather than a solution - but still, it might get her talking again. It might reset any stuck Windows setting too - which means you might be able to reset again back to the internal device - assuming it does, indeed still work.
