[SOLVED] BSOD

Hi -

The dumps are of little help here.

It's possible your user account is corrupted/ contains the driver we're after, assuming software is the cause.

Enable Hidden Admin account while in safemode. Bring up Admin CMD -
Start | type cmd.exe | Right-click on CMD.exe | select "Run as Administrator" | Paste -
Code:
net user administrator /active:yes

Admininstrastor user account will be on logon page.

See if you can get into normal Windows with it.

Let us know, please.

Regards. . .

I experience the same problems with the Admin account - when "Welcome" appears the screen freezes and when you press the power button my laptop turns off instantly.

Whilst trying to run a McAfee scan I noticed the real time scanning was turned off and whenever I try to turn it on it turns itself off again. EDIT: I think this problem is because it doesn't run in safe mode. This happens on MS security essentials too

The BSOD happened after a dodgy download which has been deleted - I shredded the recycle bin using McAfee.

Hi.

BCC E1 is common when McAfee is present.

You shouldn't be running 2 antivirus apps:
Code:
Start Menu\Programs\McAfee Public:Start Menu\Programs\McAfee
Code:
MSC "c:\program files\microsoft security client\msseces.exe" -hide -runkey Public HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Please read this:

Remove McAfee with its removal tool:
Recommend using Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes ONLY:

Perform a System File Check:
  1. Click on the start
    orb.png
  2. Type CMD on Search
  3. Left click and Run as Administrator
  4. Type SFC /scannow

Perform a Clean boot:

PS: Disable some items at start up.

Check your hard disk for errors:

Report if there's an improvement.

Hope this helps.

Still can't boot normally. Done a full malwarebytes scan which removed some unwanted MyWebSearch and Mozilla stuff, doing a full MS security essentials scan now.

After booting via F8 - last good config I could finally get into windows normally, I have only tried this on the admin account at the moment

What about McAfee removal and clean boot?

The McAfee removal has deleted everything except Security Scan Plus.

The clean boot appears to have done nothing. Before I booted with the F8 good config mode the clean boot would still have freezing problems. I just clean booted again and I can log on normally, but I don't think the clean boot did that.

With all services enabled in msconfig I experience no problems logging in.

No threats found with the kaspersky antirootkit tool.

I have been logging on using the administator for a while now, I will log on with my normal user and say if I have any problems

I can log in to my account normally however because of the accidental desktop shred, many of the shortcuts on my desktop are missing.
EDIT: The desktop shortcut in the favourites seem to be repaired but I'm still missing desktop items, which is not a problem. For now I think my problem is resolved. Thanks to everyone who replied. :smile9:

Things have been good. I haven't experienced any more BSODs, just a bit of laggy internet connections which is totally normal for me :r1:

Thanks for the help again!
