This has been going on for about 8 days trying to install update driver for my ati card. I ran the debugging tool Windbg it seem my BSOD is coming from a driver.

Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\atikmdag.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for atikmdag.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for atikmdag.sys

Could not read faulting driver name
Probably caused by : atikmdag.sys ( atikmdag+51c3b )

This happens no matter what driver I try to install from AMD, I even tried to downgrade same thing once I install the drivers and catalyst I cant log in I have to basically go into safe mode and delete the drivers from device manager and use VGA drivers to load up windows.

I followed the method that was stickied at the top of this forum, I did get to run jcgriff2 BSOD File Collection app with no problem but when I tried perfmon /report I was crashing every time I tried loading it system would just hang. I did attach jcgriff2 BSOD File Collection app zip. Thanks I appreciate the help.

Hi -

How old is your Asus G73Jh Netbook? System files show Windows was installed 2 days ago.

If it is new - return it and demand a replacement. Take a copy of this thread with you if need be.

The reason - your 1st BSOD was a 0x124 = WHEA = Windows Hardware Error Architecture, which is a Machine Check Exception, i.e., hardware failure.

Did a clean install reformatted, and installed windows 7 again. I have no programs installed other than the new drivers for my computer. I am still getting that BSOD while installing the newer drivers for my ATI card. I just finished installing a older driver and it works the problem is that I cannot play any of the newer games. there has been a few posting about the same problem on different forums so I know I am not alone. Where is the conflict with the new ATI drivers? anyways I posted 2 new files for you to see whats happening hopefully I can get some help thanks. I also attached 2 minidmps, not sure if you techs need it.

You uploaded the jcgriff2 application instead of the output files from running the application. Please run the application again and upload the files it outputs for analysis.

I see the following program installed on your previous installation. Are you using it on the current installation as well? If so, remove it.

Code:
Start Menu\Programs\AMD GPU Clock Tool	Public:Start Menu\Programs\AMD GPU Clock Tool	Public

Remove the AMD GPU Clock Tool

You should also try installing the AMD drivers only and not the Catalyst Control Center software.

Install the update for your ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities from your notebook support site:

Everything above was done already, I had reformatted my computer last night fresh windows install there are no programs installed at this time only the updated drivers for my notebook. The drivers at Asus are outdated you have to source every driver from manufactures websites that has already been done. I posted new zip files on my recent post above please take a look at that, and see if any changes are made. Thank you

I think you have given us the information to allow us to find out why the system is having problems. Do not install drivers from anywhere other than ASUS support. Drivers provided by ASUS are designed for their specific power scheme for their PC. Using other drivers can cause conflicts with that power scheme and lead to instabilities and crashes. Use your ASUS recovery media to recover the system to its factory image and do not make any changes to the drivers except from the ASUS support site where updates are available.

Best wishes that fixes things!

The drivers to the asus sites are outdated, and everyone that has this notebook is using the same updated drivers that I am trying to install. I thought this website was help to find the cause of the problem yet your brushing me off like you have done something to help me fix this problem? Your giving no options? what has been done is a fresh install and I am still receiving getting BSOD . Thanks for nothing though have a nice night.

Hi -

I assure you that no one here is brushing you off here.

Sysnative Forums has emerged over the last year as one of the predominant BSOD forums found on the Internet today with a concentration of experts that other forums are envious of.

I'm sure we can help with your system issue(s), but require the information we seek and answers to the questions asked.

Apologies if you feel otherwise.

Kind Regards. . .

I assure you that I was not brushing you off. I was in a bit of a hurry with my post, so it was not written in the best manner. I was merely attempting to explain that your problems are likely due to obtaining drivers not meant for your system. Notebook PCs are very finicky about drivers because the drivers intended for those systems have to meet standards for their special power schemes. Using other drivers, even drivers obtained from the manufacturers of the devices on the system, can cause conflicts with what the PC manufacturer intended for their power scheme. I strongly suggest doing the steps in my previous post. Once you have the correct drivers installed only from ASUS and ASUS support online (I know they are old, but they are still meant for Windows 7 and should be fine), then we can start worrying about updating drivers from elsewhere and seeing how the system responds to those updates one at a time.

The haphazard method you have been using to update drivers is likely presenting the system with too many changes at once and any one of those updates may be the cause of your problems with the video drivers due to conflicts arising from how those drivers interface with the hardware on the notebook PC. The safest method to resolve possible conflicts would be to revert to the factory state and slowly update drivers from ASUS support first. Once that is accomplished, create a system restore point, and then update your video drivers from AMD, but do not update any other drivers unless we determine other drivers that need updating through our analysis (if you have blue screen crashes and actually need to update those drivers).

Could you also please provide where you obtained this information? Who is "everyone"? Do you have links to substantiate this sentence?

It might help us to determine why drivers are not working with your system if we can understand why they are working with other systems. And if it is true that these drivers work with other systems, that may mean your system has a hardware issue that you would need to have fixed through ASUS warranty/out-of-warranty support or replace the PC itself. What has ASUS support offered to help with these problems since it works for everyone else?

Also, the previous post of yours contradicts the most recent post:
there has been a few posting about the same problem on different forums so I know I am not alone.

If everyone has the notebook working with updated drivers, then you would be the only one having this problem, yet you explained earlier that others are having the same problem. The fact that some people are having the same problem may mean the new ATI drivers do conflict with some of the newer drivers you have installed from other sources than ASUS.
