Hello,

I've just recently installed Windows 8 onto a new and clean hard-drive but are now lately coming across the BSOD, it did also happen on my windows 7 too but not as much as it is now. The error is "DPC Watchdog Violation"? Here is the information.

· OS - Vista/ Windows 7 ? Windows 8 Pro
· x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? x64 Based - PC
· What was original installed OS on system? Yes
· Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)? Full - Purchased
· Age of system (hardware) - Hard Drive - 6 Months, PC - 1 Year+
· Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? No, First installation.

· CPU - Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz
· Video Card - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti
· MotherBoard - H67A-S/H67A - FOXCONN/Intel
· Power Supply - brand & wattage - Novatech 400W ATX Modular Power Supply

· System Manufacturer -
· Exact model number (if laptop, check label on bottom)

How long have you had TuneUp Utilities installed? First thing I would suggest is a clean install of Windows 8 and not using that software. For one thing, the software is from 2009 and not likely to know anything about tuning up Windows 8, and for another, I do not recommend 3rd party optimization tools for Windows. 3rd party optimization tools often degrade system performance rather than helping it.

Please let us know how things go after a clean install. Follow the steps in the following tutorial when doing the clean install. If you need help activating Windows afterward, let me know.

The steps in the above tutorial are for Windows 7/Vista, but they are nearly identical for Windows 8 minus the change in the interface.

I've had it installed since my clean install of Windows 8, as I personally bought it when i had Windows 7.

But I'll uninstall it and see what happens, I do get what you mean as it's not configured to work with Windows 8. Understandable.

I'll have to do a clean install when i have time, but I'll uninstall Tune Up for now and see how it goes.
