I installed a 125w phenom x2 955 onto my 95w foxconn board (very stupid, trusted google like an idiot -didn't check the physical board in the case). I've since built a new pc, but i would like to use this for netflix and the likes and dump my xbox360 aka the netflix machine.

Anywho it wouldn't post so i obviously removed it and put my stock phenom back in. I let it sit for a a little over a month now. It boots in normal and crashes at the end of windows and shows a 0x0000007e. Runs just fine (for hours now) in safe mode with networking. Everything ran and worked just fine before i ruined things.

Did a system restore and it actually got to normal mode for a few minutes before BSOD

Did a clean boot, no change

Vista 64bit OEM - original. Was a display model in 2008 and they couldn't reproduce a back up disc, so i do not have one at all.

Phenom x3 8450
Using the onboard HD3200 for the moment
Foxconn bengal rs780 https://panam.gateway.com/s/MOTHERBD/Shared/4006272R/4006272Rnv.shtml
psu is a fire hazard dynex 400w that has treated me very well
Its a gateway gt5692 desktop

Thanks in advance for any input, hope i did it right :\

Hi. . .

All 3 dumps name this ATI Function Driver as the probable cause -
Code:
AtihdLH6.sys Fri Jul 05 14:10:34 2013 (51D70C1A)
Find a driver update - Driver Reference Table - AtihdLH6.sys

Can't get the individual driver. Re downloaded and installed the catalyst package and installed. Can run installer but fails early on during the anaylze portion of the install. I attached a couple pics of that.

For fun i removed the hdd and installed it to my functioning PC and deleted the ccc program files and then reinstalled on the busted one. Still hangs at the analyze portion of the install.

For funsies i did a search of the drive and found that this file name comes up quite a bit. Should i do something with one of them? I'm not sure what to do with these or how to 'inject' one of them in as a driver. attached an image of the search result.

Saw some old drivers that were installed in 2010....this would have been a hd 4650 that i first put in it. I still have it and i'm trying it now...safe mode recognized it and it downloaded a driver off the internet right away. Trying to boot in normal now. Still BSOD in normal :(

Sorry, but I don't know exactly what the driver is used for by ATI. I can't even test any of this as all of my systems are Intel CPU + NVIDIA video. The reason: ATI video shows up in BSODs 1000 times more than NVIDIA.

i.e., I don't know what to tell you on how to update that driver as I have no experience with it whatsoever.

Try uninstalling CCC and installing the lone ATI video driver.

Make sure that the HDD that you installed Windows on while it resided in that system is back in that system. Windows doesn't do well with "foreign" (switched) drives. Doing so can result in Windows declaring the OS to be non-genuine followed by going into reduced functionality mode --> https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/925582

only a bad OP doesn't deliver in the end....

My bios had like 5 options being it is a OEM board. One was to disable onboard GPU. I did this and booted in normal with another card and no more bsod. After that used a DDU to remove drivers and was able to reinstall them normally.

Hi. . .

Glad to hear that the swapped card seems to have solved your BSODs.

Good luck to you.
