I've had this "DRIVER VMA VIOLATION" for about a year now, it didnt happen often enough for me to care to fix it, I have done some research here and there but I can't seem to figure it out. it happens once or twice a week and only happens if my computer was previously put to sleep then used the next day without a fresh restart. If I Fresh restart my computer before use, it wont happen at all that day. its gotten to a point where I know when the BSOD is coming. I will hear what sounds like static in my headphones and then they will disconnect, followed by the BSOD. I've dealt with a lot of computer problems in my life but this one is one I can't figure out.

I only have 2 minidumps as sometimes the crash wont create one for whatever reason.

Hello impgod,

I am SQx and I will be handling your dumps to help you solve the problem.

Please give me some time to look it over and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Can you please follow the instructions here so that you upload all the relevant data. :-)

I would suggest looking at updating your Intel graphics card driver from either your motherboard support page or using the Intel Support Assistant which will be available from Intel support page.

when i download it from my offical motherboard website, it tells me that a newer version is already installed.

What about the Intel Support Assistant?

I'm suggesting that particular driver be updated because it seems that a DMA transfer was initiated by that particular graphics card:

not exactly sure if this is what you mean't but i did download this. This was the only update I could see. Seems to be for their Arc graphics stuff.

on top of this I have also updated my MOBO Firmware to lastest and all that. So far no crashes.

the crash happens so randomly and not all perdictable so it will be hard to tell if this helped until it happens again.

Yes, that's correct, it looks like it found a newer driver for you albeit without the OEM customisations which may have been provided by your motherboard manufacturer.

Okay that's good, let's see if the system remains stable, unfortunately like you said, since the crashes are quite sporadic it may take some time for the system to crash again.

So I didn't get any crashes this time following the disconnection of my microphone but just earlier today, my microphone completely shut off, turned back on and then the sensitivity was a lot stronger, picking up room noise when it normally doesn't. Usually this is what happens right before I crash for VMA VIOLATION. So it seems what I updated may have fixed the crashes but my usb peripherals are still disconnecting, my keyboard will sometimes disconnect as well, but no where near as often as the mic.

In both dumps there was also a networking operation in progress, we see calls to tcpip.sys in both dumps. I note that on your motherboard vendor's website there is an updated driver for your I255-V LAN adapter that is dated this year (2023-03-01). That suggests to me that MSI found an issue with the earlier driver, so if you're not running this latest driver I would upgrade it.

So it seems what I updated may have fixed the crashes but my usb peripherals are still disconnecting, my keyboard will sometimes disconnect as well, but no where near as often as the mic.
That will be a different issue but keep using the system as you normally would for the next few days and see if it crashes again. If it does, then please provide the dump files as you did before.

updated the LAN driver as well, now we wait and see if something happens again :p, really appreciate your guys help with this.

Just wanted to report back, so after my mic disconnects I am not crashing shortly after. So i think the crashes are fixed. The mic disconnecting, sometimes keyboard is still happening, seems a bit more often than before tonight.

I wanted to add the these peripherals only seem to disconnect when I'm playing any heavier graphic games. Diablo 4 especially at the moment. There was a point where I was playing that my sound to my headphones stopped and then this sharp static/ringing sound scared the crap out of me cause it was really loud. It lasted maybe 2 secs and then my headphones would shut off and after a few seconds receive sound again, I'll sometimes hear "clicking" sounds before this happens. I have replaced my mic/headphones with 3 different types, and it happens to all of them.

I don't know if this is possibly power related, like maybe my PC is not getting enough power to play these games/have these peripherals running. Nothing else makes sense. There was another type of crash that happens far far less than the first where my screen would completely freeze and I would see what looks like red, black, and white pixels all over the place everything will look distorted... then the PC will turn off. It'll once again in the dumpfiles be a VMA VIOLATION but crashes way differently, I wouldn't even get to see the BSOD this time.

As I play I always watch my heat temps, When playing some of the more graphically intensive games my GPU sits at around 61C at max graphics, CPU between 27-33C. So based off that i don't think heat is the problem?

I'm just not sure lol... This is the toughest problem to solve that I've ever had with any PC.

if I sit idle/play easy to run games, I will never hear my headphones disconnect and I will never get a BSOD. So it seems to be related to when I go and play games.

I am gonna add a "updated" Speccy to see if you guys can see anymore out of date drivers and such. This is the newest one with all the drivers updates you guys have recommended. Apologize if this isn't the program you can see drivers versions. Don't know much about speccy.

Could you please provide the dump files if a new crash report has been generated? The peripherals issue seems to be a latency issue more than a PSU issue, you could try getting a WPA report while you're playing and hope that the issue happens so the tool can log it.

Video STUTTERING, Audio CRACKS/POPS and dpc/isr LATENCY (posting instructions)

You need to export .speccy file to a different file format, I haven't used it in years but there should be an option to export it to a .html page.

Run Speccy, select File > Publish snapshot. You'll get a URL, post that here. Please add the PSU model, size, etc.
