Hi all, thanks in advance for your time.

I have been getting BSODS since day one of this build and finally they have pushed me over the edge and into making a post about it. I have swapped the gfx card and I have run memtest for 12 passes. I have a feeling it is driver related but don't know my way around windows too good. This is a day one issue (after install of recommended drivers) I have run Prime95 Blend + Heaven benchmark for 48 hours with no blue screen but his happens 5-10 times per day when I use the computer for browsing/gaming/video editing.

Specs:
I7-3820 @4.5 GHz (same problem at stock BCLCK and stock Core Clock)
4x2GB DDR3 Quad Channel Kit
EVGA X79 FTW Motherboard Latest Bios
Gigabyte GTX770 2GB
Corsair TX750M power supply
Windows 7x64 - Original install done 3 years ago, second install 3-4 months ago, both intact and on separate disks.

I have included sysdata and memory dump too although the utility probably has that covered

Again, thanks in advance for your efforts.

Hi kmacdougall! :welcome:

If your MB is 151-SE-E777 (K2 or KR ?) - EVGA X79 FTW, the latest BIOS, v2.05 on evga website, is dated Oct 21st 2014, while msinfo tells
BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 4.6.5, 12/19/2013

Could you re-check your bios version, from the bios setup?

Hi xilolee!

Thank you for your reply. Also thank you for pointing out the outdated bios, turns out I had downloaded the bios update but never flashed. After flashing, MSInfo32 reports "American Megatrends Inc. 4.6.5, 10/16/2014". That does not appear to be the issue because while typing this reply the first time the error occurred again. I can re run the utilities if that would help.

The other visible problems in the perfmon report are:
- audio device (realtek disabled); are you using a creative external audio device?
- UAC is disabled completely
- security center shows there is no antivirus (it seems winDefender is enabled, but it's not a complete antivirus solution in windows 7)

There's a new driver for your GPU: NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce Game Ready Driver WHQL
But I'm not sure if it's a good idea to update it, given that the BSOD is random... Or is it not random?
Were you doing something special to obtain the BSOD?

Hi kmacdougall,

I believe that your system activation is not a genuine one.

It looks like your activation is one that comes preinstalled with laptops from Dell/Alienware, as you have it installed on your EVGA (retail) motherboard it would make your system a non-genuine one because the kind you have installed cannot be activated legally on a different motherboard manufacturer or a retail motherboard of the same manufacturer.

As usual with many forums the forum rules state that no support is provided while any form of piracy is present.

This is my dads order receipt. He gave me this copy when he bought a new laptop about three years ago. Surely if it was not genuine I would have no wallpaper and a dialogue box would pop up from the system tray.

I will update my graphics driver but I don't think that's the problem either, I used Geforce Experience to keep my driver current for a few months but with any of the up to date drivers the problem still occurred.

The three drivers highlighted in that picture are installed, I installed them the day I installed windows along with all the other drivers on that list excluding BIOS because I thought it was up to date.

I am using a Creative sound card because the realtek one causes problems in CS:GO

Should I enable UAC? It seems to just get in the way when doing anything at all.

I run Malwarebytes/AVG weekly for my antivirus.

There is a difference between a counterfeit system and a system that has been not activated/noticed by Windows as counterfeit, many who have a counterfeit installation don't get a message that their installation is counterfeit in most cases because Windows hasn't yet attempted to connect to the servers of Microsoft.

Lets check the situation,
Click on this URL, it'll download a tool called MGAdiag.exe

Run this tool, allow it access, click 'continue', click 'copy' and paste in your reply.

What I don't understand is how could it be counterfeit if it has been paid for.

Did you install Windows using the disk that was provided for this activation on the previous system?

What I don't understand is how could it be counterfeit if it has been paid for.
It is a OEM SLP key, SLP means that the key is locked to the hardware from the original installation as it stands for System Locked Preinstallation).
A OEM SLP can only be used 1 time, using it on any other system is basically making the other system a counterfeit one because that is against the purpose of the OEM SLP.

Normally a crack or something is required to use a OEM SLP key for activation, because you would need to fool the system on a few things to let it think that you can use this key.

That may explain a few things I noticed in the MGAdiag report, please note that I am not an expert on the activation part, but it does not change what I said.

A OEM SLP can legally be used on only 1 system.

The OEM SLP is preinstalled on laptops usually, this is done by installing a SLIC table into the BIOS which holds the information for activation. Thanks to this it is possible to install Windows again without the need for a key. However, this also makes that, as mentioned, the key is bounded to the hardware.
It is 1 system, not at a time, just 1 system.

You'll need to buy a key, unfortunately I do not know any place that sells a genuine key. Many buy one on eBay, but I've seen too many getting ripped off to make that suggestion, a locked one, a non-genuine one, or whatever other kind of key that causes activation problems are sold on eBay a lot.
A key could cost 100-200 dollar, I've never purchased a key so I wouldn't know exactly.
Keys that are cheaper, like 50 dollar, are keys that you cannot trust for above reason.

You have a custom build like myself. If you have never purchased a key then by what method do you activate your Windows?

Malwarebytes free?
Avg free antivirus?
I think it's an error that your antivirus is not shown in the security center; read avg support - Repair AVG (click) and follow the instructions.
Yes, Malwarebytes free and AVG free. They are on another disk and technically not installed, so they are not listed in my programs and the security center does not see them. I have done this intentionally because I only use them to scan the whole computer and I prefer if the unnecessary services associated with them were not installed.

Well, I didn't pay directly TBH.
I paid for service from a site through school.
It allows me to download and activate software such as Visual Studio, Visio and many other programs legally. It also has Windows 10, 8.1, 7, Server 2012, etc. legally.
Through this site I have my key.
