I have windows 8.1 installed on my computer, but I started recently started getting BSOD about BAD_POOL_ERROR.
Do I need to attach my dmps?

For some reason when I do perfmon /report I get a message saying that the operator or administrator has refused the request.

It's fine, the perfmon isn't necessary and the dumps are what's most important.

Regards,

Patrick

To no surprise, Kaspersky is attempting to deallocate a block of pool twice. Pretty common on Windows 8.

Remove and replace Kaspersky with Windows 8's built-in Windows Defender for temporary troubleshooting purposes as it's causing problems:

Windows Defender (how to turn on after removal) - Windows Defender - Turn On or Off in Windows 8

Is there any way I can use kaspersky ( I really don't wanna waste the money I spent on this security system)?

Unfortunately no, as I see this very often. You can try and contact Kaspersky and see if they can set up a workaround/patch for you, but I doubt it.

This is my opinion so you can take this comment with a pinch of salt but apart from MSE I find anti virus programs problematic and a lot of the time unnecessary.
A lot of the time avoiding viruses involves common sense in the fact that as long as you are visiting dodgy websites and download anything with a big green download button on it, you will probably be safe without a real time anti virus, obviously they can help but I find they cause more harm than good, sometimes viruses can get through but using a lot of common sense is mostly enough to avoid them.

You can invest in an anti virus program by all means but I don't bother with ones, especially paid ones (Although I do recommend MSE).

Alright thanks. I'm gonna go out sometime this week to buy the ESET antivirus since it is on sale for $19.

You'll enjoy it if you choose it! Recently I had access to an ESET license, and I have no complaints. I am usually the guy that warns against 3rd party antiviruses given all of the problems I see them cause, so I was thoroughly impressed with ESET.

I personally myself on my home system don't use a 3rd party anitivirus. I use Windows Defender and Malwarebytes free for weekly/monthly scans. I will always argue that regardless of the antivirus you have, if you aren't browsing properly or taking proper malware precaution methods, you will always get infected.

Patrick

That's quite interesting Patrick, I've never actually heard of ESET until recently so I don't know what it's like.

Stop rubbing your MVP award in my face urgh!!

:grin1:

You deserve it though Patrick!

Ha, I didn't mean for it to come off that way, apologies!

I would have never used it otherwise though, so it was a nice opportunity.

Patrick
