BSOD at start-up

Hi!
Since Windows last update of Windows 10, starting the laptop has taken "ages", and today it started with a blue screen. I don`t know if it showed any message about what was wrong, before it closed. (I did not understand what the blue screen was before afterwards. :banghead:). Now I am afraid it will happen again if I don`t do "anything", so I ask for your help and directions. :huh:

As I suspected: my PC is now shutting down over and over again. (I am now on a another PC, because mine doesn t work :-( . The blue screen messages are: Bad poll caller. Mfesapsn.sys ans Special pool detected memory corruption. Hope that helps to find the error and how to fix it!

The two mini-dump crash files in your logs both show the same error:

MEMORY_MANAGEMENT (1a)

ADDITIONAL_DEBUG_TEXT:  Memory Manager detected corruption of a pagefile page while performing an in-page operation.
The data read from storage does not match the original data written.
This indicates the data was corrupted by the storage stack, or device hardware.

See if you can get your system started in safe mode. We can then start to see if it's hardware or device drivers causing the problems.

Press Power on
and immediately on F2

any other message than "OK" the disk has a problem and should be changed, check if there is warranty left over.

Have done harddrivetests in safemode, short and long dst, and got passed on both. What do I do now?

That's good news and if you are not getting BSOD in safe mode it suggests something loading during a normal boot is giving you problems. There is a useful way to troubleshoot this using a clean boot process.

If the clean boot works OK you can repeat by selecting services and then startup items until you find the one that triggers the BSOD. The MS article suggests a method for doing this by checking about half of the total services at a time.

This method, although time consuming, might work better for you as the PC seems to shutdown so quickly.

If you do get the system up and running then by all means post new logfiles so we can analyse the crash dumps.

Ah! That rather helps. It looks like you may have a bad memory stick.
You can also confirm with memtest86 which I think is a more reliable test: Test RAM With Memtest86+

You can work out which stick or slot is faulty by repeating the test as explained in the linked tutorial.
 
I am sorry, but i was still writing when his answer came, and couldn't see it. It takes time to Write on an ipad. I am used to use 10 fingers, not one ��

You used the Memorytest from Hardwarediagnostics too, i forgot to mention.
The Result ist clear, one Ram is defective. no need to run memtest once again.

Now you have to replace the Memory.

The corresponding Servicemanual from page 54 shows how to do so.
the upper slot is the problematic one.
 
My blue screen went black and I could not get in to safe mode with f4/f5/f6. Delivered the laptop for repair today. Don't know if this is seen as a guarantee issue or not, but I got a new "toy" (tab) for the waiting time :smile9: Thank you very much for your help and patience. Can't be easy with people like me who are clueless about computers and don't understand all that technical support in a foreign language . You are the best! :thumbsup2::thumbsup2: (I will send a new donation as soon as I get my PC back and can write with 10 fingers) :wave:
