My wife gave me a "Smart Watch". It is operated on Bluetooth. I am a complete Novice but do know I don't have a cell phone. I don't have a
laptop. I only have this computer with Windows 7 Professional 64bit. The instructions? specify IOS or Android. Still lost. As always, any and all
assistance will be much appreciated.
Does Windows even have Bluetooth?
Thanks

Hi Chuck.

In order to connect a BlueTooth component, you have to have another compatible component to connect it to. The Bluetooth part of the watch is only a connection point, it is similar to WiFi but with a much shorter range.

The watch should function fine without connecting it to anything.

What brand is it?

Smart watches are connected via an app on the smartphone that allows the user more insight in data, but like Rob mentioned you should be just fine without a phone. I have a smart watch connected to my phone, but I cannot connect it to Windows.

Windows supports bluetooth yes, but only if the computer itself has the hardware for it. In the menu search for "bluetooth", if you get result then the computer has support for bluetooth. If there is no result than your computer does not support bluetooth.

Usually, only laptops have support for bluetooth though. For computers, a.k.a. desktops, you need a USB dongle to add support for bluetooth.

Note: this overlaps with Rob's post because I was almost finished as I saw Rob's post appear.

You may not believe this, I didn't, but there is no product name. She got it through Haband. I will look it up and see if there
is a name on their internet. The watch did come with a USB connector so it can be connected to the computer. I looked it up and
there is NO Product name. They did have this in the definition" The anti-lost function sounds an alarm when your watch and phone are too far apart." This seems to indicate it is useless unless I have an active smart phone. I found I do have an old phone, but it is not connected to any service. We never really used it unless we were traveling and those days are long gone.

• Easy-to-read analog/digital clock Unless it requires you to set up via a phone, this will work.

• Pedometer with hydration and rest reminders You might be able to utilize this.

• Send/receive text messages Not without connecting to a phone

• Make/receive phone calls Not without connecting to a phone

• Track your call log Not without connecting to a phone

• Access music and photos Not without connecting to a phone (unless that cord will allow USB transfer from a computer with music files to the watch)

• Anti-lost function I'm not sure but probably not without connecting to a phone

One way to look at it is, you have an up-to-date watch that looks cool. :-)

Thanks XROBWX71. My next question on the phone is"Does it have to connected to a service(AT&T, T-MOBILE,etc.)?
I can charge the phone but will not pay for any service just to have the watch do things.

Having a service means it has a sim card which in turn provides the user of the phone the option to call with the phone and use mobile data (using the internet without wifi). With calling via the phone, I mean not calling emergency numbers but your aunt or a friend for example, emergency numbers are always free and don't require you to have a service.

You do not need to have a sim card/service to use the watch. The watch would be connected via Bluetooth, free of charge (except for power of course).

In order to connect this watch to your phone, you put both devices in a so-called 'pairing state'. How this is done differs per device (e.g. for wireless headphones it's different than for a watch), but on the phone you go to the Bluetooth settings and click on "Pair new device". For the device you want to connect, you would have to review the manual. This process is unfortunately not straight forward, I recently received new headphones and to pair it I had to press a specific button before my headphones would go in this 'pairing state' but once there the connection was almost instantly made. I only figured out I had to press a button after reading the manual.

To add to what @axe0 said and further clarify my original post,

• Easy-to-read analog/digital clock Unless it requires you to set up via a phone, this will work.

• Pedometer with hydration and rest reminders You might be able to utilize this without service

• Send/receive text messages Not without connecting to a phone with Services like At&T, Verizon.

• Make/receive phone calls Not without connecting to a phone with Services like At&T, Verizon.

• Track your call log Not without connecting to a phone with Services like At&T, Verizon.

• Access music and photos Not without connecting to a phone (unless that cord will allow USB transfer from a computer with music files to the watch)

• Anti-lost function I'm not sure but probably not without connecting to a phone

Most phones will allow you to use them without services by connecting them to Wi-Fi. You won't be able to make phone calls without services but you could connect to the internet and browse, use YouTube, Watch Movies, etc.

My suggestion is to charge up the phone, connect it to Wi-Fi, pair the phone with the watch and play with it for a few days and see what functions are available to you.

It's always good to hear from you. Let us know if we can help you further.
