Make you're self comfortable as this is going to be a long one.
For around 10 months ive had firefox crashing regulary so been on their forum looking for a fix but everything which has been suggested has failed IE , maleware scans & reinstall but i just lived with it crashing.
Then around 2 months ago the computer started to display blue screen and would at times shut down of it's own accord but lived with it as it was a scarce accourancy.
Then around 6 weeks ago the computer got stuck on a windows update, it would just reboot > stick on configure updates screen then just reboot again so i got it going again by the recovery disc and doing a clean installation, i tried to repair & system restore but it woulnt let me.
The following day again installing updates it did it again so had to do another clean install, then computer worked well untill 2 weeks ago when ive had to do another 2 clean installs after it sticking while updating.
So i've been loading stuff back on to the computer and i'm now noticing that stuff isnt loading propery, Microsoft security essentials will not update giving the error code 0x80248014 ( no internet connection) , the fix for that is to rename or remove SoftwareDistribution folder which ive done countless times but to no avail, i will not update. I've ran a 'fix' which say's mse isnt on my system which clearly it is ?! .
Ive loaded tweetdeck back on to the computer and that wont load tweets like there's no internet, my hp printer software wont load off the disc & an electronic parts catalogue keeps telling me that MSCOMCTL.OCX or parts of it are missing.
Ive given up on loading more stuff as i'm not too sure whether it's going to fail on another windows update.
On searching the M.S.E problem it lead me here to Tom who found out i had 4 corrupt files, i thought these might be the cause of all the problems which ive been experiencing but i'm still having trouble since the corrupt files have been fixed.
Today i've had the blue screen twice so i'm not too sure what to do next ?

[h=2]Sorry for the duplicate thread but i couldnt upload the zip file on the other .[/h]

Edit: I now cant load the wlan or service pack 1, ive tried to repair using the recovery disc but it's not giving me the option.

The computer shows 'it's up to date' when checking for updates & ive tried installing Service pack 1 and it wont load giving the error 0x8007000D.
The computer wont load pretty much everything ive tried, ie, Hp printer software, M.s.e, Wlan, tweetdeck ..
Ive tried to repair the system using the recovery disc but it's not giving me the option, it just wants to do a clean install.

All installations have to activated, the recovery included since it should be seen as new on the first reboot and activate/validate itself once connected to the internet.

well it's been 45 minutes and it's still validating, should it be taking this long ?

Would it be best just reformat C:\ and start all over again ?
