Attempting to solve BSOD error, now can't make computer boot at all

Hi guys,

I had a thread on here previously which wasn't well timed as it was just before a holiday and then things going really bad in my personal life, so I never got around to solving the issue I had. My previous thread is here: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/bs...rors-windows-7-x64.html?highlight=#post125906

Since making this thread, I've got rid of my Belkin USB wireless device and replaced it with an ASUS wireless card, as I'd heard they cause issues with Windows 7. Didn't change anything, so at least I don't think that was the cause.

If you read through the posts in the previous thread, you'll see I tried to run the driver verifier before and it all went a bit pear-shaped, but I managed to get the computer running again.

Tonight I decided to go through the driver verifier again myself to see if I could get the BSOD that showed up before to appear so I could identify a possible bad driver. because I didn't want to make another post before I had made a bit of progress. Well, I managed to take a photo of the BSOD, which highlighted a driver called rzpmgrk.sys. I had a look online and apparently that's a Razer driver, but that doesn't make much sense to me. I've had a Razer mouse and keyboard for about eight months, but I've been getting BSOD crashes randomly for the last four years.

However the more pressing problem I have right now is I cannot get to my restore point this time. Again, my PC is not displaying any output through either of my monitors when I try to boot to safe mode, booting normally just causes it to crash, and booting to my Windows 7 disc can get me to the system recovery options, but it says 'Unknown on (Unknown) Local Disc' and when I try to do a system restore, it says 'You must specify which windows installation to restore. Restart this computer, select an operating system, and then select system restore.' I either can't find/remember or cannot make work the previous way I got around the problem with safe mode (I think this was it, and it clearly isn't working this time) to make the computer work again, so I'm kindof worried that I've bricked it. So first of all, would somebody mind helping me to get this stupid machine to work again? Feel free to treat me like an idiot - I'm really out of my depth when it comes to complicated troubleshooting like this and I might be missing something really obvious.

After I've figured out how get the PC going again after driver verifier kills it, can someone advise me of what I should do next? This machine is driving me absolutely crazy and I really want to stop these crashes which have been plaguing me for such a long time.

Thanks in advance and for your patience.

Update: Figured it out. Looks like I needed to keep spamming F8 after I chose the C drive from the first F8 screen (which just gave me a list of boot options) and then I finally got to the system repair screen for the C drive. Have access to the computer again now, phew. I'll see if I can update the rzpmgrk driver, although I seriously doubt that's the problem here.

Okay I'm running Driver Verifier again, this time with everything but rzpmgrk selected. This time I can get the computer to start normally. Will keep it running for a while and see what happens.

The computer has crashed a couple of times while running Heroes of the Storm, but both times the screen has frozen before the display messes up and I haven't had a BSOD appear. Is there a way I can force it to do this? It's not really telling me anything useful at the moment and just causing the machine to crash more often.

Thanks Xilolee I'll try that when I have chance.

Did the HDD check for my solid state and that seems fine, SSDLife said it's at 100%. Also ran a memory test for as long as I could today. It only managed to do 5 passes in 7 hours, but there were no errors in that time, which I guess while not conclusive means the RAM is probably fine, right?

I'll keep fiddling with verifier when I can and see if I can figure out what's happening. I did have a crash on start-up just now, but no bluescreen came up (and no minidump was created) and when I restarted the computer again it was fine. Maybe it was just cause the memory test USB was still plugged in or something? I dunno.

Message to windows 10 users: DON'T download and try CORE TEMP if you are using windows 10.
It froze my machine (Although it showed the correct temperature).
Try Real Temp 3.70 instead (yes, I tried it first this time! ;-p).

BadNeighbour: It could work on your machine (windows 7, right?).

I just had a crash while running driver verifier, but it just said the usual 'Uncorrectable hardware error.' I've attached the dump file just in case it's possible to find something out from it.

Edit: Xilolee, what am I looking for on HWiNFO? I'm not sure.

Okay may be onto something. It looks like the numpties who built the computer set it up to overclock the processor at maximum. The 3.3ghz processor has actually been running at 4.7Ghz the entire time. Processor was getting quite hot as a result (70C+ whenever it was doing anything, sometimes over 80C).

I've turned off turbo completely on BIOS and now the temperature is staying below 60 for Heroes of the Storm. Did a quick test on Guild Wars 2, which made RealTemp go crazy before, and it hit 66 max. Despite turning off turbo, I can't see any difference performance wise on either of the games. I've also updated a couple of drivers for my monitors and for Realtec HD Audio.

It might have just been a heat issue because of the overclock. Will report back if I get another crash. Can't believe supplier thought setting up the computer like that was a good idea. Annoyed I haven't realised that was going on before.
