Hi every one ,

when i install AMD Readon HD 5000 drive , blue screen appears which indicate that there are an error at atikmpag.sys file ...
i uninstalled it and re-installed it more than one time and tried all the windows ( win 7, win 8 86x & 64x , win 8.1 ) and tried all the versions of the driver but no way !

finally , i realized that it's a hardware problem , the technician said to me that any maintenance to the VGA in the motherboard may affect on all the board and the error will appear again after a short time ...

so , could ant one advice me what to do ??

Where are all of these versions of Windows coming from? 8.1 is a beta version, but what about the rest?

What Windows OS came with the system?

i am using original OS from Dream Spark .. when i bought my laptop , the OS was SUSE Linux

sometimes laptops need the video drive from the laptop manufacturer, not AMD...Try going to HP and getting the latest video driver from the HP site and see if that works.

Looks like the full model number is G62-b51EE is that correct?

If so there are not any Windows 8 drivers on the HP site listed for that model.

Are you installing Windows 8.1 Preview or 8.1 RTM?

When Windows 8.1 installs what driver does it supply.

win 8.1 pro preview
it supplies driver named " Microsoft basic display adapter "
i used all AMD drivers versions but no way !! :/

yes the model no. is HP G62 - B51EE

the problem is also found when i installing Win 7 ...

and i worked on Win 8 for 6 months without any problems until the problem is founded !!

I only ever had luck by installing the Intel driver first, a lot of the time the driver is modded by the notebook manufacturer to accommodate the switchable video feature, then installing the secondary video driver also from the laptop manufacturer. A lot of the time we see these issues after a update to the secondary driver either through Win update or initiated by the user.

Try installing the HP Win 7 drivers in compatibility mode the Intel first then the ATI but there have been a lot of issue with switchable graphics in Win 8.1 preview(keep in mind the preview is a beta not a finished product, even the 8.1 RTM released on technet this week is not all the final bits and pieces I'm hearing).
