Any guide on how to manually fix component file?

Hello!

Total newbie here,

I've been lurking on this site for a week now and I wanted to ask if there are any tutorial on how to manually fix component files? We currently have a Server that doesn't want to update, and I want to troubleshoot it. Would like to see if I can get some good pointers to videos and or ideally what is being used aside from the Component app within the site.
