KB5001716 fails with error 0x80070643. This is how you can resolve this issue.
Microsoft has released
KB5001716 for Windows 10 systems (22H2, 21H2, 21H1, 20H2, 2004, 1909, 1903 and 1809). But this update is causing problems when you attempt to update again, then KB5001716 fails with error 0x80070643. When you look in the Windows Update history, you will see that KB5001716 was successfully installed on an earlier date, but offered again and failed with error 0x80070643.
As shown in the screenshot above from the Windows Update History, KB5001716 was successfully installed with the date "
2024-03". However, this update was offered again, but this time it involves an obsolete version from October "
2023-10" last year. You can hide this October-version of this update as follows.
Hide KB5001716 with WuShowHide.diag.cab from Microsoft
You can hide this - obsolete - update with the following Microsoft tool (

Download
wushowhide.diagcab to hide an update.
- Double click on the wushowhide.diagcab file and press Next.
- Now the tool will search for updates and performs a scan to detect problems.
- When this process is complete click on Hide updates.
- Now an overview will appear with updates that have not yet been installed.
- Select KB5001716 (2023-10) and press Next.
- When the troubleshooting has complete you can close the tool.
