Hi,

I have a Windows Server 2022 21H2 (OS Build 20348.2402) where all cumulative updates fail sinds may 2024.
All other updates pass with no problems.
sfc /scannow performed.
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth performed.
Catalog rebuild performd.

I noticed alot of people on this forum with the same problem and you guys seem to be able to help resolve this issue.
I manage alot of servers but i have only 1 with this problem where I can't seem to resolve the issue.

If possible, could you assist me please?
ComponentsScanner, CBS and WindowsUpdateLog attached.

Thank you in advance.

In the meanwhile, i have attempted a repair myself by copying the 2 missing manifest files using SFCfix. Updates still don't work. New CBS and componentsscanner uploaded.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Please provide the result of SFCFix (SFCFix.txt) so I can see which fix you have applied?

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Hi,

It seems you have extracted SFCFix.txt from a fix in another thread, but this is not the result of the created fix?

However, here's the first fix to resolve this issue.

Download

SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Afterwards attempt to update again and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs.

Hi,

the update failed.
I did indeed upload the wrong SFCfix file at first but replaced it after a few minutes.
Doesn't matter anymore now. Sorry for my mistake.
I attach the new CBS and SFCfix.txt files.

Hi,

I tried to perform a dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup, as suggested by Microsoft, but I get an access denied error.

Error: 5

Access is denied.

I have attached the DISM log file and the CBS log file incase it has changed.

De result of SFCFix is from the previous fix in post #14, as well as the the CBS logs. So it seems you've uploaded the wrong files.
