Hi all,
I have just recently been able to update from windows 8 to 8.1 thanks to Sysnative, but since the update I can no longer obtain any sound when I connect my laptop to my tv through HDMI, it doesn't appear in the playback options so I cannot select and switch default to hdmi audio output. This appears to be a common problem with the Windows 8.1 Update and I have not since found a solution. I have a HP Envy 15.
Steps tried so far with no result:
Tick/Untick Show Disconnected/Disabled Devices in playback window ( No result)
Uninstalling and reinstalling IDT High Definition Audio CODEC since it is the original driver through HP recovery Manager ( No result)
Tried Disabling NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible)(WDM) in case of interference with driver ( No result)
Update of both NVIDIA and IDT driver ( Both are up to date and do not require further updates)
Tried using different HDMI cables OR cables working prior to update ( No result)
Steps avoided:
Restarting the computer with the HDMI cable plugged in so it appears in playback list.
Haven't tried this because I would rather avoid having to do that every time I want to connect to the TV and it is not really a solution.
I am hoping you can help, hope this is the right place for this post.
Thanks,
Underwoodisaurus
