I have upgraded my computer manually several times from Windows 10 x64 version 1511 to version 1607 (Anniversary Update). With version 1511 my computer is very stable. No BSOD, No component store corruption, SFC and DISM work perfectly. When I do an Ingrade update to version 1607, I start getting BSOD, after restarting, SFC and DISM stop working due to corrupt component store. Most of BSOD involve MEMORY MANAGEMENT or BAD POOL errors. I double and triple checked my Memory (Test Good), My Harddrives is good (Active@Disk Monitor and CheckDisk), My Power is good from the power supply. Each time it got so bad I restored my computer from a backup image of version 1511 and all my window problems goes away. So the problem is version 1607 is not compatible with some hardware or software that is installed that version 1511 is compatible with. I did do a clean install of version 1611 and had the same problems when reinstalling my software back. I am very concern about updating to Windows 10 version 1611. (Note: to do an upgrade to version 1607, I have to totally disable Windows Firewall, Avast Antivirus, and all start up 3rd party software plus disconnect all USB from computer)

First time I post to this forum. When I upgrade to version 1611 I will run sfc and dism immediately and then run SFCfix if possible and upload it to this forum.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

>> I have to totally disable Windows Firewall
thats not usual, there must be another reason, get rid of Avast
TuneUp, any XXCLeaner, Spybot Search& Destroy, any other Software like VPN too.

Otherwise post into the Upgrade-Forum here with all relevant Info you can give, including the logs from Panther depending its a Rollback or just crash;
win notices much more than you are aware of.

After several tries I finally did a clean install of version 1607. I got a couple of BSOD but it stabilized after I transferred programs from version 1511 using Easeus TODO PC trans pro. I was able to have most of my program working in 1607. No BSOD. Some programs I needed to reinstall to make it work. SFC found corrupt file but unable to repair. DISM couldn't locate source to repair image. SFCFix crashed (sent crash report thru program) After looking at SFC logs, found out it had two corruptions in amd64 microsoft windows setup component, both the same file. This wasn't in the sxs folder in install.esd. I took a chance and located the file in windows sys32-OOBE folder and replaced it manually in sys32 oobe folder from the Install.esd image. SFC didn't find any corruption and DISM finished without corruption. Both checked good. I back everything up and made a system image in case I have any problems in the future with this version.

I would like to report that version 1607 is working very well without any BSOD's even though I made several changes and deletions. I guess I needed to delete my old partition on my c: drive before installing a clean version of 1607. SFC and DISM and SFCFix all come back clean without error even after several reboots. This wasn't the case when I did an Ingrade of Windows version 1511 to version 1607 as I mentioned in my earlier posts. :wave:
