Hi Guys,

A couple of weeks ago my laptop screen didn't show my desktop, it was black for about 1/2
an hour and then showed my desktop.

This didn't worry me because I use an old 32" flat screen LG TV as my main monitor. I had it set up
to use both monitors because the laptop monitor was the light source for its keyboard.

Now it presents a gray screen or a partial attempt at showing the desktop. I've included a couple of
pictures so you can see the problem.

The problem I see is the small monitor is blocking the best parts of the image on the big monitor! ;) But I digress.

The fact the display is good on the external monitor indicates the notebook's graphics solution is still working fine. And the fact the notebook monitor is lit up suggests the notebook's backlighting is fine too. So the problem is either with the notebook's monitor screen itself, or maybe the connection to it (like a loose cable).

If you press the applicable Fn key combination to cycle through notebook only, external monitor only, both, then back to notebook, does the notebook screen display consistently fail to display properly?

If me, I would disassemble the notebook (or take it to a pro) to make sure the cable the notebook screen did not come loose or get pinched.

Hey thanks Digerati, I'll check the cable 1st.

Hey Digerati, Not sure which was on the big monitor, I've included 2.

Well I was just kidding, but thanks anyway.

Hey Digerati, Thanks, you hit it on the head again; I just wish all repairs were that simple.

Now I'm only sending you this attachment because I know you will appreciate the talent of the artist

The bikini is body paint.

Cheers,
Bob.
