Hi, ever since I upgraded my system to the latest 10 version I noticed that my system completely freezes and stays frozen for 10+ seconds as soon as I start a registry search on the machine.

If I do it in a VM all is well, but a real machine, nope.

No malware and SFC Clean. There have been no software changes for a while. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot?

I'd run ProcMon, but I can't since the system is too slow at that point.

Are you still having the issue? Can you give me a step-by-step walkthrough of what you are searching for and at what level in the registry you are at when doing the search. Which checkboxes are checked when doing the search, what additional hives are loaded, etc.

Yes, unfortunately, 99% of the time I use it for the Component hives, the other one percent are various reg exports (SxS, CBS...), basically WU stuff. Keys, Values and Data are checked. The biggest issue is that there is no rule to it. I cannot tell you EXACTLY when it happens as it does not occur the second I start the search, but for example a minute or two or five later, while I'm still researching the hive and the damn thing completely freezes but for a minute or two at this point I cannot even access Task Manager. ProcMon turns blank and crashes. And no, the hive is not corrupt because it occurs even with my healthy hive and no additional hives are loaded, just:

HKCR
HKCU
HKLM
HKU
HKCC
The steps would be:

File -> Load Hive (select the hive, name it something, but not COMPONENTS and hit enter). Then search for the Deployment/Component key in question.

First step in my opinion would be to have a Data Collector Set always running collecting performance statistics. Are you familiar with these? If not, let me know and I'll send you what I have running on my machine all the time.
