[SOLVED] [8.1Upd3 x64] SFC Corruptions on Dell Inspiron 7447

So this started out ever after 2 months when i got this laptop, it started with me not being able to change my lock screen but that's the only thing that i noticed, fast forward a year and i decided to look deeper into it and saw a thread suggesting that i should use "sfc /scannow" on the command prompt and it detected some corrupted files. Saw the SFCFix, ran it, couldn't fix the problem.

here's the log it created:

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.


  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.




SFC Scan


  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

    Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

You have not followed my instructions. Please download the attached file to your Desktop.

Please download SFCFix.exe to your Desktop.
Drag SFCFix.zip onto the SFCFix.exe and release. Wait while the script has completed.
A file called SFCFix.txt will appear on your Desktop,
Go ahead and run SFC /scannow

When done, attach ziped SFCFix.txt and CBS.log.

Let me know if anything is unclear.
 
Retrieve Components Hive
 1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload toa file sharing service and just provide the link here.

still can't change my lock screen and my profile picture (as noted on my first post, I've tried going to SystemData and changing the lock screen from there. At first it was working but as time went on it didn't anymore)

not to mention that i can't share files from laptop to some other device since this has bluetooth and all

other than those, i don't experience any other problems (or maybe i haven't found them yet)

As for the lock screen and the profile picture, I've seen the link you gave me, tried everything there and nothing works anymore (previously, changing the picture in the SystemData folder would change it, now it can't)

As for the bluetooth, I've tried sending the file directly and looking at the task bar, no such sign of any possibility of sending a file from the laptop but when i look at the instructions for the bluetooth, it says that i only need to right click the desired file and send it to the desired device (which doesn't show up when i right-click the file i wish to send).
