After numerous attempts I can't get KB4056895, KB4057401 and KB4057272 to finalize the installation for a Windows 8.1 x64-based system. After I downloaded the files and installed them. The computer was restarted and the computer stated that "We couldn't complete the update Getting ready to retry" After restarting twice the computer showed "Getting computer ready
Undoing changes"

Here's info I received via SFCFix:

Re: KB4056895 and other installation problems

Hello and welcome!

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.
  9. Afterwards run DISM again and attach CBS.log

DISM ran good to my untrained eye. I will try updates again to see what happens and get back to you.

Re: KB4056895 and other installation problems

Yes, still having problems as before installing KB4056895, KB4057401 and KB4057272. Other updates after these three were installed okay. Remember seeing in log that KB4056895 was not installed because it had already had been installed correctly previously. Strange that it keeps appearing for update. Maybe it also applies to other two updates that I am having problems with.
DISM report showed following:
Image Version: 6.3.9600.17031
[==========================100.0%==========================]
The restore operation completed successfully. The component store corruption was
repaired.
The operation completed successfully.

Suggestions?
Doug

Re: KB4056895 and other installation problems

Attach CBS.log now for me to see if there's anything interesting there. Do not install KB4057401 and KB4057272. Attempt to install KB4056895 and then if it fails, attach CBS again.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Re: KB4056895 and other installation problems

Interesting! I'm dragging the zip file onto the exe file (SFCFFix) and still get the same result for the txt file. Here's a print out of results. Am I still doing something wrong?

Re: KB4056895 and other installation problems

Oops! Okay let us try this again. Both files were downloading to PICTURES folder not DESKTOP so I had to move them properly to DESKTOP and fix security, so I am attaching new SFCFix.txt file. Does this file make sense?

Re: KB4056895 and other installation problems

Okay, happy to report that the original three updates (KB4056895, KB4057401 and KB1057272) have magically disappeared Of the six new updates only one (KB4074594) did not finalize the installation. So here's the new zipped CBS log file.
Thanks.
