Hello all,

I'm new here and hope that I'm posting in the right place.

Recently I started to have problems with my Alienware Laptop, Windows 7
Several crashes of apps and above all suddenly chrome also started to crash upon starting.
I then had Firefox still working but when it asked me to "enjoy the new look" and I answered yes, it also stopped working.
So no internet on my laptop anymore

I read through a thread here on the site with the same error but that did not give me a solution for my case.
This is the info it gives me after the crash:

I also made a dump file which you can see here: StackHash_2264_chrome.zip - Google Drive

Any suggestions anyone?
Many thanks in advance, Robert

Re: StackHash_2264

Please update the BIOS to version A15 and let us know whether the problem continues, gets worse or stops.

Re: StackHash_2264

Thanks axe0,

Although I had the explorer stopping to work after updating the bios, I don't know if it became worse.
But it did not fix it either.

Regards, Robert

Re: StackHash_2264

Also in case it matters; when starting windows I already have this warning that Chrome stopped working, it shows 3 of these pop-ups.

Thanks, Robert

Re: StackHash_2264

Please download Autoruns, Autoruns for Windows - Windows Sysinternals | Microsoft Docs.

  • Extract the zip and run Autoruns or Autoruns64.
  • In Autoruns, click File and choose Save.
  • Save it as ARN on your desktop, this could take a while.
  • Go to your desktop, right click the ARN file and choose Send to and select Compressed (zipped) folder.

Upload the zip folder.

Maybe a little off-topic, but I would recommend to remove Java and IObit.
  • Java, unless needed, only creates security issues, if you need it please keep it up to date
  • IObit, you have better software installed (Revo Uninstaller)

Please do the following and see if it improves things
  • Task manager
    • Open task manager (press ctrl + shift + esc simultaneously, or right click on your taskbar and click Task Manager)
    • Go to Startup tab
    • Disable everything
  • Msconfig
    • Open msconfig (press Windows logo + r, enter 'msconfig' (without the quotes) and press enter)
    • Go to the tab services
    • Check 'hide microsoft services'
    • Uncheck all other services
    • Click apply and click ok
  • Reboot

Due to the amount of entries present in several areas of your pc, there's a chance that there are conflicts.

Great this did the trick, I guess I will go back and switch services back on one by one (or in groups) and see which one gave me this trouble.
Will report back when I know more.

Reuze bedankt... :-)
