Hi,

I haven't been here for a while, in fact my desktop is in storage & for now I got a refurbed bare Dell E5610 Latitude i7 laptop that I installed my dvd copy win.7 64 Ult. UEFI using a Macrium PE, which was clean until I did the update to ie 11 with all the required prerequsites last week.

It was when I updated the corresponding ie11 administrative templates that I got into the trouble that I've mostly taken care over 2 days with a few runs of sfc /scannow, SFCfix.exe SURT, & fixing win.updates via tweaking-all-in-one; I'm now down to just 2 corrupted files listed below (out of the orginal 54), but I don't want to push my luck in guessing how to fix them. If you could please help with these, I'd be appreciative- the wetransfer link with my component file is also below Thanks.

CORRUPT: C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-inetres-adm_31bf3856ad364e35_11.2.9600.17843_none_d0bda218acffcc59\inetres.admx

Re: 2 Corrupted Winsys component files after update to ie 11 & updated admin template

Actually, the laptop is a Dell Latitude E6510 i7 with 4 virtual cores, 2 physical cores.

Re: 2 Corrupted Winsys component files after update to ie 11 & updated admin template

I just saw it today; running gpedit.msc is coming up with many parsing errors, guess this will continue until file 1 can be fixed...

Re: [7SP1Ult x64] After update to IE11 & admin templates, 2 Corrupted Winsxs files.

Hi,

Another system??? I don't understand, I thought this would be simple for just 2 files, what is the diagnosis??

Re: [7SP1Ult x64] After update to IE11 & admin templates, 2 Corrupted Winsxs files.

Yes, you are indeed missing two files, that's why I was wondering if you maybe have another system handy on which you could look for the two files. If not, that's okay, I'll manage somehow.

Re: [7SP1Ult x64] After update to IE11 & admin templates, 2 Corrupted Winsxs files.

Thanks. It's probably missing the same 2 files, but I'll check the Macrium back I did a short time ago just in case...

Got a blank with the main one, but think I lucked-out with the Terminal one, please see wetransfer link- WeTransfer

Re: [7SP1Ult x64] After update to IE11 & admin templates, 2 Corrupted Winsxs files.

I can't access my Dell again until tomorrow, but just pulled out the Bargain Bytes 10-30-17 system checklist sheet for the refurbed, bare laptop (got it via eBay) and other than the HDD being checked off as 320gb, "Internal Issues" are checked off as being "None". I can guarantee that before I upgraded from ie9 to ie11 a couple of weeks ago, this machine was clean, even with my turning off anti-malware bytes the past few weeks in order to use VM Ware & to update, period. Hope you can successfully steer me through this without me being forced into a last resort repair-install, I did that 2 times with my desktop, & it only made things worse. Thanks.

Okay, Thanks a million.

I was doing a chkdsk /r /f via my Macrium Recovery boot (explorer cmd) before I saw this, & it DID have to make some repairs.

Though a detailed log couldn't be saved (due to dismounted drive handles), I opened up notepad and saved the cmd results, which I included with what you requested;here is the wetransfer link to the 3 txt files-https://we.tl/304VTTzzOr

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to test your hard drive health with GSmartControl:

For now I only want a screenshot of you Attributes tab.

  • Download GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Execute gsmartcontrol.exe; Let the install complete and launch the programme.
  • Identify your drive in the list, and double-click on it to bring up it's window (usually you'll find your drive by it's size or it's brand name);
  • Go in the Perform Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply;
