When I went to step 3 SURT/DISM Scan I get this message that I can't access the link on my server. I've done it before but now it won't let me.........

Is this a home machine or a business server of some sort?

This is and has always used only for home use. Don't know why I'm all-of-a sudden been access denied. Don't ever remember this happening before.

What security software are you using? List them all if you use multi-layered protection (FW and such), not just AV.

I've been through all the steps mentioned in the thread (How fix Win7 windows updates) about a month ago and never had these problems????
I'm using whatever security programs are installed with Win7 plus Malwarebytes and Norton One. Been using these for years with no problem

I'll copy the Clean Boot instructions for you. After you've done this, launch System Update Readiness Tool and leave it running.

  • Log on to the computer by using an account that has administrator rights.
  • Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press Enter to start the System Configuration utility.
Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, you should type the password or provide confirmation.
    4013464_en_1
  • On the General tab, click the Selective startup option, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box. (The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.)
    4013465_en_1
  • On the Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.
    4013466_en_1

Note This step lets Microsoft services continue to run. These services include Networking, Plug and Play, Event Logging, Error Reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you may permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use the System Restore utility together with existing restore points.
  • Click OK, and then click Restart.
