Hello. Sorry for another DPC Latency thread, but I've scoured these forums and the internet for the past 6 months trying to fix this issue to no avail, so decided to make my own thread, using the DPC thread posting instructions.

Since upgrading my PC (New motherboard, Ram, CPU), I've been having video/audio stuttering and microfreezes, especially in games and video streaming. This problem begins as soon as I install the nvidia drivers for my card. I have since installed a much older driver which improved the issue, but it is no where near perfect. Also a big influence was the Realtek Driver which i have uninstalled. Display driver occasionally crashes.

The graphics card worked fine on my old PC, have tried each ram stick individually and in different slots, have tried different graphics cards and in different slots. Have also tried installing Windows 10 on a new harddrive and had same issues. (Currently using Win7).

Have updated to latest BIOS and Chipset, amonsgst other MOBO drivers.

I also noticed that multiple devices are sharing that same IRQ in device manager, but not sure if this is related at all.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

SYSTEM SPECS

MOBO: ASUS Prime Z270-AR
CPU: Intel i7 7700K
RAM: G-Skill TridentZ 16GB (2x8gb) DDR4 3000 (Using slots A2/B2, as per manual)
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX1080 Founders Edition 8GB
PSU: Corsair AX760 W
OS: x64 Windows 7 Enterprise N SP 1 Build 7601
SSD1: Kingston HyperX 120GB (Primary)
SSD2: Samsung 850 EVO 240GB
SSD3: Corsair Force LS 120GB

Answering further questions from the DPC posting instructions:

Age of OS installation?
OS is ~1 year old, however have tried new installations on new harddrives.

Age of Hardware?
MOBO, GPU, CPU and RAM are ~6 months old. PSU is 1y/o, Samsung SSD is 2m/o, Kingston SSD 1y/o, Corsair SSD 2y/o.

Have you re-installed the OS?
I have win7 installed on 2 different HD's and a new Win10 on the Samsung. All have same issues.

Is driver verifier enabled or disabled?
Disabled.

What security software are you using? (Firewall, antivirus, antimalware, antispyware, and so forth)
Windows firewall and defender. I have malwarebytes but only run it occasionally when I want to scan.

Are you using proxy, vpn, ipfilters or similar software?
No.

Are you using Disk Image tools? (like daemon tools, alcohol 52% or 120%, virtual CloneDrive, roxio software)
No

Are you currently under/overclocking? Are there overclocking software installed on your system?

GPU overclocked with MSI Afterburner, CPU overclocked with Asus Aisuite. returning to default settings did not improve symptoms.

Re: [W7SP1Ent N x64] New Build, 6 Months of High DPC Latency

Hi NYPIZZA. :welcome:

I checked only the speccy results, but at the moment I'd try only the following things (if this won't solve the problem, we'll continue with the other logs).

Did you also try the ME update tool, dated 2017/11/09 ?

IF your memory has got this code --> F4-3000C15D-16GTZB <-- it isn't present in the QVL of your MB.
On the contrary, your MB is present in the QVL of your memory.
Your MB specs say you can set the "RAM speed" to 2133, without OC. Beyond it, it should be considered OCed.
Your CPU specs say it can support these ram speeds: 2133 and 2400.
I assume those are ideal values.
Based on this information, I'd set the ram speed to 2133 (1066.5).
Currently it seems it is set to 3000 (speccy shows 1500).

Your C: drive shows Free Space: 1.23 GB .
It seems very low to me.
I'd do these:
- uninstall (third party) programs from C: and install them (or move them, in case they are portable) on another partition (or drive).
- move data to another partition (or drive)
- reduce the pagefile.sys from 16GB to 8GB (or less: 4GB, 3GB, 2GB or 1GB)
- set the hiberfile to its reduced type
- clean the OS partition (with cleanmgr /sageset:1, selecting all options, and then cleanmgr /sagerun:1)
- defragmentation

Hi xilolee, Thanks so much for replying. I did the following as suggested, however had an issue with the MEupdatetool:

When trying to install the MEupdatetool I encountered this error: Screenshot_111817_025816_AM.jpg
I couldn't find much info on this error online.
How important is it for me to install this? what's the purpose?

- freed up 25gb on C:
- changed pagefile to 8gb (pagefile is on E: however)
- couldn't change hiberfile to reduced; couldnt find how to do this on win7, however hibernate is disabled and I don't have a hiberfile.sys anyway.
- cleaned OS partition
- Set memory speed to 2133
- also returned cpu to defaullt clock
- defragged

Please let me know what I can try next as the issue remains.

Maybe you need to download and install first the IMEI (intel management engine interface) file...
That's also available on your MB support/download webpage (under chipset).
Indeed, imei is dated 2017/11/01, instead the me update tool 2017/11/09.

Next step (after the previous is completed): check if dust is present on your components and fans.
If it is, remove it (gently and carefully, obviously with the machine turned off, disconnected from the mains and after some time... 30 minutes?).
It seems vacuum cleaners are not advised to do this.

- couldn't change hiberfile to reduced; couldnt find how to do this on win7, however hibernate is disabled and I don't have a hiberfile.sys anyway.

I just forgot you're using Win7 (and the type reduced is probably present from Win8 onwards).

I have cleaned my case with compressed air. I've had this issue since day one with these components so I'm not sure anything environmental is causing this.

Re: [W7SP1Ent N x64] New Build, 6 Months of High DPC Latency

Find the log and upload it here.
In the meanwhile, you can try to install it in a clean boot state. Or in safe mode (it could need to modify/add a registry value).

Re: [W7SP1Ent N x64] New Build, 6 Months of High DPC Latency

Well, ignore them.
Did you try to see if in the clean boot state the problem disappears?

Re: [W7SP1Ent N x64] New Build, 6 Months of High DPC Latency

Sorry, yes clean boot produced the same errors. Was unable to install either the IMEI or MEupdatetool

Re: [W7SP1Ent N x64] New Build, 6 Months of High DPC Latency

Oh sorry. Just tried again. I had the same DPC issues in clean boot. Was hard to tell in safe mode so I did another trace:

Re: [W7SP1Ent N x64] New Build, 6 Months of High DPC Latency

What devices are attached to the usb 3.0 ports?
Are you using also the usb 3.1 ports?
Open regedit and go to this key: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A2F0&SUBSYS_87241043&REV_00.
Click the key present there then follow this path: Device Parameters\Interrupt Management\MessageSignaledInterruptProperties.
What's the data present in the MSISupported dword value? (0 or 1)

Can you always reinstall the following programs without any problems?

Try another keyboard and uninstall Corsair Utility Engine (CUE).
Try to uninstall asus aura and/or the Trident Z RGB Software (lightingservice.exe).

Re: [W7SP1Ent N x64] New Build, 6 Months of High DPC Latency

Just want to say thanks for your help so far :)

Mouse, keyboard and wireless headset are attached to usb 3.0.
Nothing connected to 3.1.
Unfortunately I dont have that path in regedit:
Screenshot_112317_053917_PM.jpg
I uninstalled aura and CUE and rebooted but still have DPC issue.

Re: [W7SP1Ent N x64] New Build, 6 Months of High DPC Latency

Are you using another keyboard?
Did you try without the wireless headset?

tried without wireless headset connected and tried a different keyboard.

Re: [W7SP1Ent N x64] New Build, 6 Months of High DPC Latency

Check device manager (universal serial bus controllers) and/or in control panel --> install/uninstall programs, if it is present Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver and check its date/version.
If they're older than 6/6/2017 5.0.4.43, then try to download/install the new one from intel.com.
Not sure why, but its readme says Intel(R) 200 Series Chipset Family + 6th generation: there isn't a direct citation about "7th generation" in the document.
Maybe you can leave intel to find the correct driver for your system with their intel driver updater.

If this still won't help, try to enable, if it's disabled, the xhci hand-off option in your bios settings.

Re: [W7SP1Ent N x64] New Build, 6 Months of High DPC Latency

I updated to 5.0.4.43 but latencymon still shows iusb3xhc.sys as the culprit. I couldn't find xhci hand-off option under advanced USB configuration in BIOS, even though the manual for my motherboard shows it. I can see all the other settings such as legacy usb support. Was xhci possibly removed in a bios update? A quick google showed others missing this option after updating their asus motherboard

Re: [W7SP1Ent N x64] New Build, 6 Months of High DPC Latency

They show another meupdate tool dated 22 Nov: maybe someone else complained about its error... Try it again; also usb, sata and chipset drivers.

It could be xhci hand-off isn't compatible with your system, or they just "hard-coded" it with the correct setting (auto-discovered)... Don't know. No mention of that on bios changelogs.

After you updated the bios, did you load optimized defaults? From your MB manual:
Ensure to load the BIOS default settings to ensure system compatibility and stability. Select the Load Optimized Defaults item under the Exit BIOS menu.

Re: [W7SP1Ent N x64] New Build, 6 Months of High DPC Latency

I loaded optimized defaults but the problem persists
