Some Newer updates and possibly some existing minor hiccups have driven this install belly up, and i can no longer find a stable configuration which will allow me to reinstall graphics card drivers. 2018-01 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4056894) repeatedly failed with

Code 80070057, trying further updates produces a page fault in non paged area
bsod, and trying to put current or older AMD drivers back onto the stable system restore causes blackscreen death. In the past when an update failed windows 7 manager could fix the registry or I could restore an earlier system state and do a bit more but I'm currently stuck on 800x600.

I got about as far as i can with scannow (clean) surt (needs 3 files but i can't find the manifest file to replace for it) and sfcfix (didn't seem able to download the needful). Here are their respective logs:

Hopefully its not too bad but I'm a bit stuck at this point. I might try the reset windows update components method in the meantime.
Thanks in advance for any help and consideration!

Re: [Win7 X64SP1] Corrupt Catalog & Registry

Can't see how to edit the first post, but I have fed Surt the kb4041681.msu file first in C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSUR\MSU\servicing\Packages then as a manually created C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSUR\Packages folder but it did nothing and output the same report (files unavailable). The instructions
suggest the .msu file itself would be fine, does it have to be unpacked or have I done something wrong?

Re: [Win7 X64SP1] Corrupt Catalog & Registry

Nevermind, I will bite the bullet and just reformat. This thread can be deleted.

Re: [Win7 X64SP1] Corrupt Catalog & Registry

Hello and welcome! I'm very sorry for the delay.

If you have decided to definitely reformat, that's okay. If you'd like assistance, please let me know.
