Hello,

Since several months I can not install the monthly quality rollups and one other Win7 Update.
Most other updates are installed correctly but not the monthly one.
My installation of Win7 is many years old but was updated all the time if no errors.
System runs stable even if it runs several weeks at a time. No blue screens.

I followed all steps of Windows Update Forum Posting Instructions.

SFC Scan = Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations

SURT/DISM Scan finsihed.

SFCFix finished.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

Dropbox - SFCFix.zip

Afterwards, please run SURT again and attach CheckSUR.log.

  • Close the window "Administrator: Command Prompt"
  • Execute FRST/FRST64 right click on the icon
    FRST.jpg
and choose Run as Administrator. Make sure all other windows are closed.

    FRST_SearchRegistry.png
  • On the Search box (1) type or copy and paste the following text:
    KB2952664
  • Press the Search Registry button.
  • Wait for the search to finish FRST will produce a log called (SearchReg.txt) in the same directory the Tool is run from.
  • Please attach the log to your post.

I followed your instructions.
Sadly no "The operation completed successfully" in the command prompt. I started it as Administrator.
The second line appeared after some 3-5 seconds.

FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Download attached file and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
2. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
3. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
4. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.

I think I found the problem why it did not work.

Inside your SFCFix.zip is an SFCFix.txt file which contains:
Code:
{ARCHIVE}\Packages %SystemRoot%\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages [DIR]

But in an older SFCFix.zip from you the SFCFix.txt inside has this code:
Code:
::
{ARCHIVE}\Packages %SystemRoot%\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages [DIR]

The difference was the "::" in the first line of the txt which was missing in your zip.

So I changed it and dragged the zip onto the exe again with a result attached. It seemed to work.

RESULT: View attachment SFCFix.txt

I will execute SURT now.
