I keep getting errors with the 10-2023 CU on Server 2019. KB5031361. I have been reading through every MaxStar thread I could find and run DISM, SFC, everything that is always put in there to troubleshoot and I can't make heads or tails of it. It always makes it to about 5% then jumps to 100% and errors with Error 0x800f0983.

Are we supposed to do something special to get a reply on here? Nearly ever post that has come after mine has gotten replies. I'm not sure if I did something wrong or not.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

You don't have to do anything special to get an answer or help with your issue. However, as pointed out in this thread! "We usually receive far more threads than available helpers, therefore it may take several days for a helper to get to your thread."

I will look into your issue as soon as possible.

Hi,

In the meantime please provide a copy of your COMPONENTS hive.

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

The latest log(s) are clean, so I would suggest to update again. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs.

I reran sfc /scannow and dism commands. Rebooted the server and tried again. no luck. I appreciate your help on this.
