Not sure if anyone can suggest a course of action, but I am unable to locate the .msu files associated with these errors found by checksur. They are not in catalog.update.microsoft.com and various links to the MS Downloads site return 404 errors. I cannot find 2008 R2 x64 versions for:

KB978262

KB973874

KB2524375

Hi Welcome to Sysnative,

Can you tell me which version of Internet Explorer is installed on the system?

SFCFix Script

!!! WARNING !!! The following fix is only relevant for this system and no other, applying this fix on another computer will not work and most likely will cause problems...
  • Download SFCFix.exe (by Niemiro) and save it to the Desktop
  • Download the file SFCFIX.ZIP, attached below, and save this to your Desktop
  • On your Desktop, make sure you have the two files:
    myjIXnC.png
    SFCFix.exe and
    sfpcJCen14An3ndjNGCI7mByhjHJud.png
    SFCFIX.zip
  • Drag the file SFCFIX.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it
  • The SFCFix tool will process the script
  • Upon completion, a log file SFCFix.txt should be created on your Desktop
  • Open the SFCFix.txt log and copy & paste the contents to your post

Hi,

The update missing is no longer needed we will take care of it latter...

System Update Readiness Tool (SUR)
  • Download the System Update Readiness Tool (x64) and save it to some place, its a big download and eventually we need to run it several times, please keep the file
  • Run the tool. Its like an Update but it can take a long time to do the work. You will get an Installation Complete screen when it's done running
  • Please attach to your post the log from the following location: C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log

Note: If the file is too big please Zip it and upload the ZIP file to a service like Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive or upload to SendSpace and just provide the link for the file here.[/B]

I have been running Checksur for weeks, and is how I got rid of the hundreds of errors I had leading up to submitting this post. Latest log attached as requested. :-)

I have not yet tried to install pending updates since running your fix to see if I have any luck, but KB973874 for sure is what is causing my inability to process Roles and Features on the machine according to CBS.log

Hi,

Thanks for the log.

Uninstall Update Manually

- open the Command Prompt as Administrator (Tutorial)
- type or Copy & Paste the following: wusa /uninstall /KB:973874
- confirm that you want to uninstall the update

If the result is some error like Update isn't installed, error during the uninstall, etc. execute the following steps:

Search with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST)
  • Download FRST or FRST x64 and save it to the Desktop.
(Please pick the version that matches your operating system's bit type. If you don't know which version matches your system, try FRST if it say that is not compatible with your OS you have to use FRST64)
  • open the Command Prompt as Administrator (Tutorial)
  • type the command:
    dism /online /Get-FeatureInfo /FeatureName:TFTP|find "."
  • wait for the command to finish with "The operation completed successfully" or equivalent
  • close the window "Administrator: Command Prompt"
  • Execute FRST/FRST64 right click on the icon
    FRST.jpg
and choose Run as Administrator. Make sure all other windows are closed.
(When the Tool opens for the first time you must click Yes on the disclaimer.)
    FRST_SearchRegistry.png
  • On the Search box (1) type or Copy & Paste the following text:
  • Press the Search Registry button.
  • Wait for the search to finish FRST will produce a log called (SearchReg.txt) in the same directory the Tool is run from.
  • Please attach the log to your post.

Thanks so much for the follow-up. The wusa uninstall indeed resulted in an 80070490 Element not found, as did the dism command.

FRST log is attached.

Appreciate it very much. Checksur clear of all the previous errors, but is now showing two missing deployment keys. I can however now view Roles and Features again, though pending updates still fail to install:

Skip and hide any update that is a Preview those should be avoided by normal users only Developers may need them also those are old updates from 2019!

Retrieve the Components Hive

  4. If file will is too large to upload to the forum please share the file using a service like Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or upload to Swiss Transfer and just provide the link for the file here

Export Registry Hive (CBS)
  • download the script ExportCBSRegistry2.cmd and save it to the Desktop
  • right-click the file ExportCBSRegistry2.cmd and select Run as administrator
  • when the script ends a new file called SoftwareCBS.zip will be located on the Desktop
  • If the zip file is too large to upload to the forum please share the file using a service like Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or upload to Swiss Transfer and just provide the link for the file here

Export Registry keys (SBS)
  • download the script ExportSbSRegistry.cmd and save it to the Desktop
  • right-click the file ExportSbSRegistry.cmd and select Run as administrator
  • when the script ends a new file called SoftwareSBS.zip will be located on the Desktop
  • If zip file is too large to upload to the forum please share the file using a service like Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. or upload to Swiss Transfer and just provide the link for the file here

Hi,

Thanks for the files. Please run SURT again and post the new CheckSur.log

Thanks for everything so far. KB4474419 reported already installed, and KB4490628 completed installation.

Ok, now retry to install 2019-09 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB4516065)

Successful and awaiting restart. Also seeing 9 new pending updates following the latest check...

ok, good. Try to install all of them except the ones labeled *Preview* if the install fails collect the CBS.log.
