I can usually tinker my way through issues but have hit a major roadblock.. :banghead:

This laptop had a failing hard drive and was stuck in a boot-loop. I did a few chkdsks and managed to get the OS limping along. After which, I went ahead and cloned the disk to a SSD and she was back up and running. I noticed a few odd quarks in the OS so I decided to run a few diags on it. non of the control panel settings would come up. All sorts of weird stuff happening.. Here I am :-(

"SFC /Scannow" returns this:

Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.

"Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" returns:

Version: 10.0.16299.15

Image Version: 10.0.16299.125

Error: 216

This version of %1 is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information and then contact the software publisher.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

SFCFix.exe completes way to quickly:

SFCFix version 3.0.0.0 by niemiro.
Start time: 2018-03-01 22:30:14.727
Microsoft Windows 10 Build 16299 - amd64
Not using a script file.

AutoAnalysis::
SUMMARY: No corruptions were detected.
AutoAnalysis:: directive completed successfully.

Successfully processed all directives.
SFCFix version 3.0.0.0 by niemiro has completed.
Currently storing 0 datablocks.

I used the Tweaking.com - Windows repair in safe mode to assist in diag/repair and that did not bring the services/sfc back to life.

I have attempted a repair OS install keeping settings, files and applications. But that too failed :-(

Any guidance would be appropriated.

Thank you all in advance.
