[10v1709b16299 x64] Very High Latency, Audio Clicking Problem, and Wlan also?

Hi everyone.

I happen to have the same problem of this guy (click).

when i'm playing audio, it will click before playing, while playing and be distorted sometimes.

Running a Asus ROG Laptop, Win10, 64 bit
i7-4720 @ 2.6ghz
16gb Ram
SMBIOS 2.7 (Uefi)
256 GB SSD
Has a Thunderbolt out which I use for my interface
I am not quite sure what other stats could be useful, let me know (I'm not quite an expert).

After a recent windows update (at least it fits the timeframe) I started to have severe troubles with crackling and droputs, although my computer is opted for music recording and daw-processing and CPU never surpassed 40%.
I went and checked all my drivers for updates in the device manager. There were a few but that didn't quite help.
I re-installed my focusrite audio driver. That also didnt help.
Reading through a few forums some people offered solutions. None of them really helped, made it worse if anything, now my CPU goes way up to 95%. So I decided to stop trying to fix it for myself. I wanted to ask for help here, before I make a clean instal.
I have monitored my computer activity with latencyMon, as well as with the performance toolkit as suggested in another thread. Find them here: Dropbox - Troubleshooting

From what I can tell, Wsf01000.sys and Storport.sys are my biggest troublemakers. But perhaps I am overseeing something.
Yet, even knowing this doesn't quite help me on solving the problem. And as my previous attempts at fixing caused more harm than good I am now hoping for the right help here - or I will do a clean install (which would be terrible, bc of all the software I'd have to reinstall and iLoK's I'd have to reclaim and so on..)

Hoping somebody here is willing to have a look and help me out. Given the specs of my pc I feel these Issues shouldn't happen at all.

Try the restore point before that windows update.

I am currently trying to update all my drivers. If that fails, it's the restore point (that is being made automatically by windows, right?). If that fails, it's going to be a clean install, which I am trying to avoid.

I was hoping somebody would be able to check the data I provided and tell me where the problem exactly sits, as I am pretty much playing minesweeper here, and have already managed to make it a bit worse with my solving attempts.

According to what you wrote, it seems a new windows update package is your problem.
If you restore your system before that update, and after it your PC works without issues, then a windows update expert (in this forum) could help you to identify the problematic update, before you re-try to update your OS (if you won't be able to locate it on your own. In that case, post the culprit package!).

Hi Xilolee, it was, but I couldn't set back properly, as I had updated a lot of drivers in trying to fix this mess and they all created backup points. I decided to go with the clean re-install of windows. And, what do you know.. the issue still exists!

I could track parts of it down to a USB to HDMI I was using for my second screen. Removing that, and the corresponding drivers helped, but it didnt toally get rid of the problem.

I am really not sure how to proceed from here. The problem only happens if I use Ableton, a 64-bit DAW program. All other audio, such as youtube e.g. is fine.
I mostly use ableton to route external instruments into my computer with a focusrite pro 40 interface, with an octopre dynamic mkII extension. The interface goes in via firewire to thunderbolt adapter, as my rog has a thunderbolt port. Whenever I use ableton, albeit the cpu use not going above 50% I get the glitches and dropouts. Less now, but still existing.

Again, all the drivers are up to date, a clean instal of win10.

Hoping for a miracle here!
